Summary

With the first two episodes ofStar Wars: Ahsokafinally being released on Disney Plus, fans have been relishing the opportunity to meticulously comb through them for Easter eggs and references like an overachieving baggage check agent. However, there’s a tidbit that doesn’t take much searching, assuming one knows what they’re looking for.

Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2 included plenty of material forStar Warsfans and newcomers, including aheartfelt dedication to late series star Ray Stevenson. He appears as Baylan Skoll, one of two brand new Force-wielding characters aiding in the search for Grand Admiral Thrawn, a fan-favorite character from the old non-canon Legends days ofStar Warsstories. But as Baylan and his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) help their employer Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) in that search, the series reveals what may be several stealthy references to a now classic duology ofStar Warsgames.

Darth Sion From Star Wars KOTOR 2 The Sith Lords

RELATED:Ahsoka Premiere Review

Almost as soon as the episodes premiered,Star Warsfans on Reddit began speculating and pointing out what they believe might be Easter eggs, which are essentially tradition inStar Warsprojects at this point. Reddit userdoctoranonruspointed out how the massive structure seen being fixed up with a stolen hyperdrive core seems to have a familiar name. Called “The Eye of Sion,” this huge ring-shaped ship/station appears to be the flagship that will set out to a new galaxy where Thrawn is said to be waiting. It also shares a name with Darth Sion, one of the villains inStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

Darth Sion’s creepy-looking eye is one of his defining physical characteristics, which drives home the possibility of it being intentional even more. But while it may simply be a reference in name alone, others quickly added that it isn’t the only potential connection to the beloved BioWare and Obsidian RPGs. Further replies brought up the heavy use of HK droids, a reference to thedry-witted fan-favorite assassin droid HK-47from the aforementioned games, and the star map used by both the heroes and villains. The fully extended map bears striking visual similarities with the star maps seen in the firstKnights of the Old Republic, where the protagonist was tasked with tracking them down on several worlds.

It doesn’t end there, however. More users joined in with their speculations, with one suggesting that Baylan’s reference to a great power in the other galaxy could be the Star Forge from the firstKnights of the Old Republic. This huge structure was unique in its ability to churn out new starships at an alarming rate, which the user mused could further explain how Palpatine’s fleet was created inthe divisiveStar Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker. Finally, Morgan’s mention of an ancient alien race immediately caught other fans' attention, as it could easily be referencing the Rakatan, a similarly creaky race of aliens seen in the aforementioned first game. Granted,Star Warsisn’t exactly in a drought of ancient aliens, so it could sensibly be a reference to anybody.

IfAhsokacreator Dave Filoni hasn’t made it clear already, he’s a fan oftheKnights of the Old Republicgames. These could all be simple references without any intention of returning them toStar Warscanon. But one doesn’t just bring in this many Easter eggs and expect them to stay as little more than callbacks. It absolutely wouldn’t be a surprise to see at least one of these nods toKOTORpan out into something super satisfying for fans. So keep on watchingAhsokato find out.
