Alan Wake 2has fans returning to the role of the titular author as he attempts to rewrite (and re-right) reality and correct his past mistakes. Along with its genre shift to outright survival horror, and much more tense combat scenarios, the sequel also contains many mind-bending sections and puzzles. Some of these are related to the main story, while others are optional hidden challenges and secret tasks. Though not strictly needed to progress, these will often reward players with supplementary narrative beats and an array ofuseful supplies, such as ammo and health.
One ofAlan Wake 2’s side objectives can be completed while exploring the Oceanview Hotel in the chapter Initiation 5: Room 665. During their tour of the mysterious hotel, players may happen upon a locked room on the second floor, Room 209. The faint sound of humming can be heard coming from within. Players may guess from previous encounters that this is another spot where this reality’s version of Sheriff Tim Breaker is hiding out. Players looking for a short, direct answer will find thatthe Room 209 key is in Room 206. However, acquiring it can be a little trickier than just going right there. Players who may be struggling to find exactly how to get the key can follow the below steps to obtain it.
Where (And How) To Get Oceanview Hotel Room 209 Key In Alan Wake 2
Starting from the Oceanview Hotel’s main entryway on the first floor,head north before taking the left hallway path to Room 104.By way of the Dark Place’s weird dream logic, this will actually put the player in one ofAlan Wake 2’s safe spaceson the second floor, which is Room 225. If players now attempt to enter Room 206 from the closest slanting eastern hallway, they will find the door to it is also locked. Luckily, there is an alternate way in.
Get Inside Room 206
From the second floor safe room,go south down the long straight hallway, past both the stairwell and Room 219, andhead towards Room 206 from this side. When the player gets there, in another instance of the bizarre rules of the hotel, they will notice it is actually labeled Room 216 from this perspective. Regardless, players should enter the room from this spot, where they can see that the guests have had quite the party.
Just inside, players will thenfind the key to room 209 resting on a table.To exit, unlock the eastern side door from within, allowing easy access back to slanted part of the hallway. Head back to the original destination, room 209.
Unlock Room 209 & Find Sherriff Breaker
Players are now free to return to Room 209 and unlock it with the newly found key. Inside, players will find the source of the sounds they heard earlier. The source is indeed the friendly face of Sheriff Tim Breaker. He will have some extra dialogue referencing one ofAlan Wake 2’s Easter eggsabout a certain well-known television show that Alan is familiar with. There are also a few supplies that can be looted from Tim’s stashes on the side. Most notably though, players will want tocheck Tim’s map on the wall that. This map will mark all the Words of Powerthat are found around the Oceanview Hotel.
With the mystery of Room 209 solved, and Tim a little more reassured, players can now continue through the rest of the chapter. Alternatively, Alan can outside the Hotel to the nearby safe room and switch back to follow up onSaga Anderon’s storyline back in Bright Falls.
