Randy’s Throwing Knife was aDestiny 2Shadowkeep Scout Rifle added to the game more than two years ago. This Rifle was one of the most difficult Crucible weapons to grind for. Unfortunately,it was one of the last guns taken out of the gamebefore Bungie ditched the sunsetting idea in early 2021.

How Sunsetting Works
Weapon sunsetting essentially phases content out of the game to make room for more content. Bungie believed this was a good way to keep things fresh and limit the variety of weapons used in the Crucible. There were so many weapons inDestiny 2that Bungie was worried about weapon balance and meta shifting.
Instead of nerfing the weapons causing issues, Bungie thought that removing dozens of weapons would improve PVP because they could stay on top of the meta. There would only be a few overpowered weapons at a time, and a few nerfs would be enough to fix the game.

However, quite the opposite ended up happening. A limited number of options created a small handful of competitive guns in PVP. It also did not sit well with a number of people in the community. Not everyone plays PVP, and many of the weapons removed were tough to get.
The beauty of a game likeDestiny 2is that players can collect these items as trophies, representing accomplishments in raids and PVP. It makes sense that having too many desirable weapons can make the game stale, but weapon balancing is always an option. Best Alternatives
When it was announced that Randy’s Throwing Knife was gone forever, people immediately looked fora replacement. A lot of players started usingServant Leader, a rapid-fire Scout Rifle with a ton of zoom. While the two weapons have some similar characteristics,the Servant Leader is not even close to as dominantas Randy’s.
Although, with a great roll, Servant Leader can beviable as a longer distance weaponin PVP. The main problem with the Servant Leader is flinch while aiming down sight. The zoom level makes the flinch look even worse than it actually is. Pulling down on the thumbstick a little more can help keep the weapon on target. Even with the best roll, Servant Leader is a good, but not great Scout Rifle in PVP.

Sadly, there are no Scout Rifles in the game that compare to the look and feel of Rand’s Throwing Knife. Those that actually completed the grueling challenges will remember how dominant that weapon actually was. Collecting all of those throwing knife kills seems impossible, especially several years after the game first launched. Hopefully, gamers will have the chance to unlock a similar weapon in the next few seasons.
In the Scout Rifle class, Dead Man’s Tale remains the top weapon by some margin. Unlike the gun mentioned above, Dead Man’s Tale does not have a sight. Players can fire it from the hip, or use the small iron sight to line up shots. Those that want to use a Scout Rifle, but struggle in the Crucible need to give this weapon a try.
Many tout Dead Man’s Tale as thetop primary inDestiny 2right now after all of the changes to handcannons last season. The reason why this weapon is so powerful is the 150 RPM fire rate coupled with the previous 120 RPM handcannon damage.It does more damage than the 120 RPM handcannonsand fires faster.

Because of how wide the hip fire radius is, using Dead Man’s Tale without aiming down sight is an option at most ranges. The base damage of the gun is a three-shot kill with one headshot. WithCranial Spike, getting kills with the gun increases damage. After a couple of kills, the Scout Rifle will take out guardians in just two shots.
