Nintendo has said that updates forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonswill continue throughout 2021, and it has kept true to that promise. 2021 kicked off with a Festivale event, and this month sees the addition ofSuper Marioitems to the game. Even more new content is on the way soon, however, withAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers able to get their hands on a variety of St. Patrick’s Day-themed items starting March 10.

Nintendo confirmed itsAnimal Crossing: New HorizonsSt. Patrick’s Day plans in a recent Twitter post. From March 10 to March 17,Animal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers will be able to get Shamrock soda, shamrock doorplate, and shamrock rug items from Nook’s Cranny. Besides St. Patrick’s Day-themed furniture items,Animal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers will have some clothing items to collect as well. To ensure that they are wearing green and can avoid getting pinched,Animal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers can visit theAble Sisters shopto find outfits appropriate for the holiday.

It’s unclear if there is anything else major in store forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsbeyond the St. Patrick’s Day items. After all, this month will also see theSuper Marioitemsadded to the game, and so nothing else has been announced beyond that. Nintendo did say that support forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonswould continue in 2021, but it did not specify how long into 2021 that support would continue.

Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis coming up on its one year anniversary on March 20, which means that the most dedicated players may very well be close to fully completing the game in terms of bug and fish collections andNook Miles achievements. Those players could very well be ready to move on to other experiences, but Nintendo may be able to keep them hooked with some more substantialAnimal Crossing: New Horizonscontent.

Maybe Nintendo could release anAnimal Crossing: New Horizonspaid DLC expansionof some kind to keep fans engaged with the game. A paid expansion would be more expansive than the free updates that Nintendo has released forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsover the past year, and could not only keep longtime players engaged but bring lapsed players back into the fold as well. If Nintendo has any plans like that, though, they haven’t been revealed to the public, and so fans shouldn’t hold their breath.

Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
