Marvel Studios has finally released theAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniatrailer. It certainly looks like the film will kickstart Phase Five with the promise of an otherworldly adventure for Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang.
The trailer forAnt-Man 3has actually been screened for attendees of Marvel Studios' panel this past summer, though not released to the public due to the studio not considering fully finished. However, now that the final footage is out, there are some changes from what those fortunate viewers reported at the time. Still, the premise is very much the same, as Ant-Man (Rudd), his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton), the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) get sucked into the Quantum Realm and start running into Janet’s former acquaintances, as well the Multiverse Saga mastermind, Kang the Conqueror.

The first few shots in theAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniatrailer posted features some of Lang’s usual humor. Ant-Man still has to deal with being mistaken for Spider-Man, among other negatives of being one of the lesser-known Avengers. Nevertheless, it seems Cassie has been learning the ropes of quantum physics and Pym particles, as an experiment gone wrong in the lab sends the entire family to another realm, much to Janet’s dismay, who certainly seems to know a thing or two about why it’s a bad idea to try to communicate with that reality.
Of course, the big reveal many fans have been waiting for isJonathan Majors in full Kang the Conqueror costume. The villain shows up in both the blue face he’s known for in the comics and in human form as seen toward the end. There are plenty of Quantum Realm residents popping up here and there, but none as famous as Bill Murray, who’s also been cast inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniain a still undisclosed villain role.
There are several differences between this final preview and the Comic-Con trailer, including the absence of some notable Marvel Comics characters or some crucial dialogue, as well as the actual intro for Ant-Man. However, regardless of that, both end with Kang offering Scott some kind of deal that will indeed have big consequences in the MCU. Most notably, Cassie’s costume suggests she’s getting ready to follow her father’s footsteps on her way to becoming the Stinger,one of the Young Avengers, who she might actually show up as inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Aftera relatively underwhelming MCU Phase Fourfor some fans,Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanialooks like the film to really get things running, with onlyLokiand theDoctor Strangesequel providing some context for the inner workings of the Multiverse.
