In addition to thenew Legend Ballisticand alterations to the World’s Edge map, Respawn Entertainment made changes to the Ranked mode for the battle royale. Among the changes, the developer introduced placements matches, removed the midseason Ranked Split, and added a new Ladder Points system. Beyond this, the entry cost for Ranked games received alterations; the cost is now the same regardless of rank. While these changes were meant to create a better ecosystem for Ranked, many players think the opposite has happened.RELATED:Apex Legends Could Finally Be Getting a Highly Requested Feature SoonAs Season 17 has progressed, more players have started saying that Ranked has a major problem. Specifically, they claim that it is too easy to reach Masters rank in the game. According to Apex Legends Status, a website that tracks rank distribution forApex Legends, close to 20% percent of players are in Masters. Many players think this is too large of a percentage, with some claiming this shows that ranking up in the game is easy.

A player manager known as minustempo from the esports organization TSM highlighted the issue in a recent tweet, which garnered a lot of attention from theApex Legendscommunity. In the message, they said that pro players are not as interested in playing ranked since the inflation of the Masters rank has caused lower-skilled players to be placed in higher-level lobbies. In addition, minustempo claimed that achieving Masters rank inApex Legendsno longer holds the same sense of achievement it once did due to the larger amount of players now able to reach the higher Ranked tier. Furthermore, they called the badge for reaching Masters, typically something highly sought after by players, “meaningless.”

While not every player has an issue with thecurrent Ranked system forApex Legends, many players agreed with minustempo’s assessment of the situation. Among the comments, a number of gamers claimed that they had reached the Masters rank and had lost interest. Besides comments from the community, pro players, such as ImperialHal, have been outspoken in regard to the current Ranked situation.

It will be interesting to see when Respawn Entertainment decides to make more changes toRanked inApex Legends. While it is unclear what the developer has planned, the next best chance for a Rank shakeup would likely be the start of Season 18. Unfortunately, that season is not expected to begin until the beginning of August, meaning the Masters rank will likely remain oversaturated for the near future.

Apex Legendsis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
