A new video shows an Unreal Engine 5 remake concept forAssassin’s Creed 2. Beginning the story of Ezio Auditore, one ofAssassin’s Creed’smost popular protagonists, the second game in the iconic franchise is hailed by many fans as one of the best entries in the series. Giving players access to some interesting parkour options through the architecture of Renaissance Italy, a story of revenge centered around the Auditore family, and the next part of Desmond Miles' narrative, there was a lot for fans to enjoy inAssassin’s Creed 2.
Assassin’s Creed 2was also one of the titles fans most wanted a remake for, leading Ubisoft to re-releaseall three games starring Ezio inAssassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection. Despite combining the stories forAssassin’s Creed 2, Brotherhood, andRevelations, some fans were critical of the remakes as they didn’t seem to offer much in terms of graphical improvements. Some fans even created videos comparing the originalAssassin’s Creedgames to their newer counterparts, finding the former to be visually superior.

It would be difficult for many to argue that an Unreal Engine 5 remake wouldn’t offer an improvement from the original graphics ofAssassin’s Creed 2. TeaserPlay on YouTube has actually managed to show what a remake of the 2010 classic could look like on the new Unreal Engine, creating a short trailer for the game, showing some impressive visuals including water reflecting the sunlight, new textures for buildings and what looks to be an updated character model for Ezio.
TeaserPlay’s video doesn’t indicate that anAssassin’s Creed 2remake is in the works, though, as the YouTuber has created many short clips of what certain titles would look like were they to be recreated in Unreal Engine 5. Previously, they have made concept videos for plenty of other Unreal Engine 5 remakes, including aMax Payne 2remaster, another version ofHalf-Life 2,andthe originalAssassin’s Creedgame.
The concept video for theAssassin’s Creed 2remake might make some fans nostalgic for the atmosphere and direction of the original games, which has been somewhat lost as the franchise has moved forward to focus on more RPG-style gameplay and grand, open-world designs. However, for those who want a return to the older entries of the franchise, they might not have to watch remake concept videos, asAssassin’s Creed Mirageis reportedly returning the franchise to its roots, bringing back the focus on stealth with less exploration.
Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collectionis available now, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
