Developer Univrs has revealedAttack On Titan VR: Unbreakable, a new virtual reality game set in the post-apocalyptic world of theAttack on Titanmanga. This new VR title, only announced on Meta Quest 2 so far, is set to release in the summer of 2023.
Attack on Titan, also known under its original Japanese nameShingeki no Kyojin, is a popular manga series following the adventures of Eren Yeager, a boy who vowed to get revenge on the gigantic titans that destroyed his hometown and killed his mother. This manga was a critical and commercial success, selling over 110 million print copies worldwide and becoming one of the best-selling manga series of all time. The manga was later adapted as an anime television series, with thethird and final part of theAttack on Titananimepremiering in 2023.

During the Upload VR 2022 Winter Showcase, Univrs announced thatAttack on Titan VR: Unbreakable, a new game inspired by the manga’s universe, will arrive next summer on Meta Quest 2.Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakablewill feature both single-player and co-op modes, with the solo campaign having players fight to regain control of the city, slashing titans on their way. Players will be members of theAttack on TitanScout Regiment, using a wide range of weapons to defeat the large man-eating titans that threaten their home. Univrs should unveil more details about the co-op mode and overall gameplay ofAttack on Titan VR: Unbreakablein the upcoming months.
The teaser trailer forAttack on Titan VR: Unbreakabledidn’t show any glimpse of gameplay or a cinematic tointroduce theAttack on Titanstory. It only mentions that the goal of the game is to “protect the future of humanity” and “eliminate the titan threat.” What this premise exactly entails remains a mystery, as Univrs didn’t share more information about the game through its teaser trailer.Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakablewill feature Japanese and English voiceovers and subtitles when it releases sometime during the summer of 2023.
Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakableis not the first video game set in theAttack on Titanuniverse. In 2016, Omega Force teamed up with Koei Tecmo to releaseAttack on Titan: Wings of Freedom, an action hack-and-slash game retelling key moments from the manga. Another game, calledAttack on Titan: Team Battle, focused more on capturing the feeling of swinging around with the omnidirectional mobility gear used by the characters in the manga. Unfortunately,Attack on Titan: Team Battlewas canceled by Capcomdue to the developer’s failure to provide “unparalleled immersion” in the game.
