Despite first premiering nearly two decades ago, theAvatar: The Last Airbenderfandom is arguably stronger than it ever has before. The extremely popular animated series originally ended its run in 2008, with the show gaining an increasingly passionate fanbase over the past decade. This passion can easily be conveyed through one fan’s rendering of what one of the series' iconic locations could look like in Unreal Engine 5.

The immensely popular anime-inspired franchise set in a world where people can control the elements is going through somewhat of a rebirth, with several planned upcoming projects for theATLAuniverse. Last year sawthe formation of Avatar Studios, which will reportedly helm at least three new animated films, in addition to a slew of other projects. There are also reports of new video games set withinAvatar: The Last Airbender’s universe, which may want to take notes and/or hire the creator of the footage below.

Posted by Leo Torres, the roughly minute-long clip showcases stunningly photorealistic footage ofAvatar: The Last Airbender’s Western Air Temple. The location is an important one within the original series' story, where Team Avatar seeks refuge after failing to invade the Fire Nation, and where Prince Zuko finally convinces Aang and the others to let him join them. The video shows the Western Air Temple’s signature inverted towers, affixed to the overhang of a craggy cliffside. Relaxing music and wind noises create a calm, serene scene, with realistic textures and physics helping to convey the majestic vastness of it all.

The creator notes that the footage is simply a test, and that the version of the Western Air Temple is still a work in progress. While there hasn’t been much information with regard to what fans can expect from official video games, but it is reported that there aremultipleAvatar: The Last Airbendervideo gamesin the works, including a console RPG and an MMORPG. Unfortunately there isn’t much other information, whether it be available platforms, genre, or even art style.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Western Air Temple isn’t the only famous spot from an animated series to be recreated in the popular game engine recently. Someone also usedUnreal Engine 5 to recreate Shiganshina fromAttack on Titan. The infamously doomed district which begins the saga of protagonist Eren Yeager is also recreated with incredible detail, even featuring the Colossal Titan peeking over the wall. While not as photorealistic as theAvatar: The Last Airbendervideo, the footage is certainly impressive, and shows just how creative fans of TV shows can be.

Until any further word is out regardingATLAvideo games, fans of the series are getting creative. One fan even managed to recreateAvatar: The Last Airbender’s iconic opening sequence inGenshin Impact, utilizing Shikanoin Kazuha as Aang. Hopefully news breaks sooner than later on when gamers can properly dive back into the beloved world ofAvatar: The Last Airbender.
