Although Larian CEO Sven Vicke has officially announced that his development or writing team won’t be doing any sequels or DLCs,BG3will still be updated and bug-fixed on a regular basis, which means they’ll be adding even more cool stuff players should never sell.

A Pork Loin in Baldur’s Gate 3

Updated August 4th, 2024, by Kristy Ambrose:Role-playing has a lot of influence as to what a Baldur’s Gate 3 character keeps or sells, which can guide a player when they’re cleaning out their inventory or Camp storage. One Tav’s junk is another Durge’s treasure, so it’s ultimately up to the player as to what goes to the vendor and what stays in storage. Some of these things are useful, but sometimes even the most random, weird stuff can have sentimental value depending on the story. Remember that the protagonist can haul more chests and backpacks to Camp, so even if their adventuring inventory gets full, there’s always more space for more stuff.

1Camp Supplies

Needed For Long Rests

BG3requires the player to take short or long rests once in a while. Spellcasters restore the spell slots they have used, while all the classes restore their abilities and max out their hit points. However, these long rests come at a price because the player must have enough camp supplies to equal forty, and some food items are worth more than others.

Find camp supply resources or collect various bits of food and bottles of wine, beer, and other spirits. Players should always be collecting food while they are adventuring even if it’s only a couple of carrots found on the side of the road. Yes, theydo take up space and weightin the player’s inventory but fans can always send them directly to camp instead of carrying them.

2Fancy Camp Clothes

Wear Them At Any Time Using The Campfire Icon

There aren’t a lot of stylish or unique Camp clothes to find until Act 2, but when the party starts to find them, that’s when the real fun starts. Fighting clothes are all well and good, but when the suits, gowns, and other designer pieces start to appear, it’s better to keep them.

Camp clothes are more than a fun way to dress up Tav and their companions. It’s also part of the role-playing fun, and if a character is romancing someone, there are different clothes they can wear for a tryst by the river or a hot date in the city.

Mystic Carrion in Baldurs Gate 3

Visit Carm’s Garms on the bridge, or The Facemaker Boutique if the protagonist has a higher Charisma and a lot of gold to spare, to track down some fine casual wear. It’s also deeply satisfyingto strip Cazador’s Mansion or the House of Hope of almost every scrap of linen in sight after dealing with the bad guys.

3"Orange" Items

Often Connected To Quests Or Important NPCs

These aren’t gear or weapons of a Legendary quality, but important items like books, jars, or bits of jewelry, that are required for a quest. However, their importance isn’t always clear when they’re found or picked up, so they have an orange border that signals to the player that this is something they should keep as opposed to selling.

One example is the canopic jars that hold the remains of the mummy lord, Mystic Carrion. The player might find these in the Ancient Crypt before stumbling across the quest to either aid or destroy the mummy.

Even if they’re described in a general way, the jars will be orange so that the player knows they’re important. Other items in a similar vein include theAmulet of Bhaaland the Necromancy of Thay book.

4Thieves' Tools

Useful Even If You’re Not A Rogue

The Bard and Rogue are the two classes that automatically have Sleight of Hand proficiency, but any character can get it through multi-classing or choosing certain Feats. Depending on a character’s Dexterity, any character can try to pick a lock on a chest or door provided they haveThieves' Tools.

Without the Thieves' Tools, even a Rogue with a maxed-out Dexterity can’t pick a lock with their bare fingers. There’s always the option of smashing the lock or using a Knock spell if there is one, but having some tools handy is better than wasting a spell slot.

5Trap Disarm Toolkit

Better Than Finding Them The Hard Way

Characters need a high Perception to find traps before they can be disarmed. That can be difficult if a characterhas a low Wisdom scoreor is afflicted with certain conditions like Paid the Price, but hopefully, the Cleric or Druid can handle it if the Rogue can’t.

If players can find the traps without setting them off, it’s possible to avoid them but much better to disarm them. This requires a Trap Disarm Toolkit and Sleight of Hand Proficiency, and if players fail the first attempt, having multiple toolkits allows for another try.

6Jugs

Small Vases For Camp Decor

The difference between jugs and vases inBG3is that jugs are small enough for a player to pick up and carry with them. Jugs are smaller than vases, often elaborately decorated, and are distinctly decorated, making them different from the larger bits of crockery that litter the game.

Jugs aren’t useful in the sense that they can’t be used to store anything, but they’re often worth a few pieces of gold each should players decide to sell them. For those who want some pottery or ceramics in camp, there’s a wide variety of decorative jugs that they can haul back from the day’s adventures. They can’t be used for storage, but do make decent projectiles.

An Arrow of Acid in Baldur’s Gate 3

7Elemental Arrows

Handy For Taking Down A Variety Of Enemies

Rangers and any other class thatare proficient in longbows, short bows, or crossbows don’t need to worry about purchasing arrows or creating their own as they are an infinite resource. However, besides the regular arrows, players can also get their hands on the occasional arrow that comes with special effects. They include elemental damage like acid or fire along with more specific effects like silence, transposition, or thunder damage.

The players' opponents will not go easy on them as they will also make the most of these special arrows, so a player should never sell this item if they hope to be on a level playing field with their enemies. Players may also be interested in buying more from merchants though they are easy to find on the corpses of enemies.

A Scroll of Blur in Baldur’s Gate 3

8High-Level Spell Scrolls

Handy When Those Spell Slots Run Out

Magic Scrolls give players the freedom to cast spells even if the class they are playing has no connection to the Weave.Baldur’s Gate 3is sure to supply the player with a few spell scrolls of Rare or Very Rare quality. Battles will force players to use everything they’ve got, and therefore they will be grateful when they remember they didn’t sell that scroll that came in handy.

There are some exceptions to this rule of never selling magic scrolls. If a player has a spellcaster on their team that already knows that spell, then it’s fine to sell any duplicate scrolls they find. Players are less likely to becasting the same spellseveral times, though if it’s a useful spell it may be better to keep it.

9Stuffed Animals

Either Keep Them Or Give Them To Karlach

Everyone’s favorite Tiefling Barbarian loves animals, even of the stuffed variety, and it’s one of those unlikely things fans can find inBaldur’s Gate 3, so players like to collect them. There are a few bears, of course, but there are also owlbears and other fun and cute forms.

It’s more fun to stockpile stuffed animals in Act 3, when the party can stay at the Elfsong Tavern and there’s a bed to put them on. Another option is to give them to Karlach. She has a teddy bear named Clive resting at her corner of the campsite, which has given rise to the belief in the fandom that she likes stuffed animals.

A Scroll of Revivify in Baldur’s Gate 3

10Scrolls Of Revivify

Essential For Survival, Literally

Scrolls of Revivify are incredibly valuable, they cost a lot to purchase from merchants and can also be sold for an equally impressive amount. However, this item should never be sold no matter how desperate a player is for gold. Scrolls of Revivify give players a quick way to bring a companion back from the dead without having to spend more money back at campto buy the aid of Withers.

No matter what difficulty a player enjoysBaldur’s Gate 3on, they are likely to face an unlucky moment where an opponent shoves their character off the map or dies in a tragic poisonous cloud explosion. Having a scroll on standby will be crucial to get this companion back on its feet if players don’t have the spell instead.
