As stated in a blog post on the official EA site, there are plans to add a feature titled “EA anticheat” in the next update, coinciding with the sixth season of content. The main reason behind this is to improve the gameplay experience by weeding out cheaters. Installing it will not affect the gameplay experience to any noticeable degree, but from the developers' perspective, it will makethose who are playingBattlefield 2042unfairlya lot easier to identify and boot off of the servers. EA explained that this addition is part of an ongoing effort to keep gameplay civil, and promised further tweaks to their methods afterward if need be.
According to the attached FAQ, EA anticheat is a kernel-mode anti-cheating software developed in-house, ensuring that theBattlefield 2042developers have full transparency compared to third-party anti-cheating programs. EA decided to make the switch since in its eyes, games as competitive as this one absolutely demand such a feature. The program is fully compatible with Windows 10 and 11, and will only work so long as the player has booted up any game that has it installed. It also does not compromise players' personal data, and EA attached various links for players who might experience any issues with the new software.
It’s always nice to see game developers improve their products, no matter their initial reception, even if it might take longer than players would like.Battlefield 2042is just one of many examplesof a poor game becoming a better one over time, and this new feature should improve the experience further.
Battlefield 2042is available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
