For all the numerous -dere types out there, it seems there are always other types pushed to the wayside, such as the nemuidereand the darudere archetypes. But as it turns out, there is still a variety -dere types that apply to the many colorful personalities of anime characters.

One such -dere type that is often overlooked is the himedere. Characters, namely female characters, who fall into this archetype are very pompous in nature; they may even believe themselves to be royalty, which may or may not actually be the case. Here are some ladies in anime who are bonafide princesses in more ways than one.

8Rurichiyo Kasumioji - Bleach

Although Rurichiyo isan anime-exclusive character inBleach, her personality still befits that of a typical himedere character. Unashamed of her noble status, Rurichiyo is very hard-headed in nature and behaves in a manner typical of a spoiled child; she is very prone to childish outbursts if things do not go her way, much to Ichigo’s chagrin.

As a testament to her haughty personality, Rurichiyo even refers to herself with the royal we, a rare pronoun that is only used by royalty or those with otherwise high status. But in spite of all her pride, Rurichiyo harbors a kind heart, as she greatly cares for her bodyguards Kenryu and Enryu and laments the fact that so many people risked their lives because of her.

7Minerva Orland - Fairy Tail

Upon her introduction, Minerva was extremely prideful and confident, to the point that she believed herself to be a queen and abused others for their supposed weakness. Even her own father was not spared from her hubris, as she berated her father Jiemma for his weakness after he was promptly attacked by Sting.

Afterthe events of the Grand Magic Gamesand the Tartarus arc, however, Minerva began to repent for her horrid deeds and started forming genuine connections with her guildmates. However, she still retained some of her prideful personality, such as when she boasted about winning Sabertooth’s eating competition during Fairy Tail’s year-long absence.

6Saki Tenjouin - To LOVE-Ru

Always the show-off, Saki Tenjouin can easily be recognized by her haughty laughter and her cocky demeanor. She takes pride in being the object of affection for the male students in Sainan High School and thus takes it as a slight when Lala Satalin Deviluke starts receiving more attention than her.

Jealous of Lala’s popularity, Saki ends up trying to challenge Lala to reclaim her spot as the queen of the school but ultimately ends up being saved by her instead. Outside of school, Saki lives a luxurious life, though she makes it a point to treat her social inferiors with the respect they deserve.

4Bulma - Dragon Ball Series

Though Bulma is known for her scientific genius and headstrong personality, she does have a vain side to her as well. Often worried about her appearance, Bulma has been shown to use her beauty against certain foes; naturally, she takes it as a slight if they fail to fall for her ruse.

Despite this temperamental behavior as well as her devotion to her appearance, Bulma, like most himedere characters mentioned previously, does care for the well-being of her friends. Her specialty in science and inventions has proven very resourceful in her adventures with the Z-Fighters, whom she has no problem helping whenever the going gets tough.

Despite her bloodlust, however, Kurome is not without humanity. She genuinely loves Akame and much of her killing intent stems from severe brainwashing at the hands of the Empire, which isfurther elaborated in theAkame ga Killmanga. 2Mary Saotome - Kakegurui

One of many skilled yet underhanded gamblersinKakegurui, Mary Saotome can best be described as a sadistic princess. During her gambling matches, Mary has absolutely no reservations about mocking her opponents and treating her subsequent housepets as poorly as possible, as shown by her awful treatment towards her classmate Ryota Suzui.

For all of her boasting, however, Mary becomes extremely resentful upon losing her earnings and becoming a housepet herself after her loss to Yumeko Jabami. This proves to be a humbling experience for her, as Mary is shown to be less cruel and full of herself upon her return to gambling, where she shows much more sympathy towards those that have become housepets.

Arguably the most prominent supportive Hero inMy Hero Academia, Mei Hatsume is best characterized by her unabashed bluntness andher insatiable knack for inventions. Her Quirk is called Zoom, which (as the name suggests) allows her to alter her vision and hone in on anything in the vicinity.

With regard to her inventions, Mei takes immense pride in them and has no shame in either promoting them herself or tricking other people into promoting them. Combined with her many disconcerting traits, namely getting extremely close to someone when talking to them, Mei can be quite the handful in casual conversation, despite her good intentions.
