Summary

Pokemon: Scarlet and Violeton the Nintendo Switch make up the ninth generation of thePokemonfranchise. As expected, this generation has added a lot of new Pokemon and features that were not available in previous games. For instance, the Paldea region is a fully 3D open-world that players can explore in their own time with their Pokemon by their side. This means that the main quests can be completed in any order.

However, the second DLC for these games,The Indigo Disk, has added something more to the franchise that no one expected. Players can nowsynchronize with their Pokemonto free roam and interact with the region as one of their Pokemon. That said, some Pokemon in the game have something to offer that others do not.

7Blastoise

This Slow Tortoise Gets A Boost In Water

Blastoise has been a fan-favorite Pokemon ever since its debut in Generation 1. This Pokemon was on the box art ofPokemon: Blueand even got a Mega Evolution in Generation 6. As such, the love for this Pokemon has made it stand out from the other Pokemon in its generation.

That may be why some fans were disappointed by its slow-walking animation intheTeal MaskDLCforPokemon Scarlet and VioletHowever, Blastoise has been given a bit of a speed boost in this game, making it much more tolerable to use when in synchronization mode. What’s more, Blastoise is also very quick when swimming, making it easy to zip across all those lakes and rivers blocking the players' path.

Intellion Indigo Disk Pokemon Scarlet Violet

6Inteleon

The Starter That Is Extremely Fast

The final stage of the water starter, Sobble, first arrived in Generation 8. The Galar region in those games was loosely based on the British Isles, so this lizard took a bit of inspiration fromJames Bond. It is tall and sleek, and it uses the signature move Snipe Shot to dispatch enemy Pokemon. While this Pokemon may not have beenexactly what fans wantedfrom Sobble’s final evolution, Inteleon is one of the most fun Pokemon to use to explore the Paldea region.

Inteleon is fast on both land and in water. Players can’t help but use this Pokemon to get around in a hurry, so much so that Intelion almost makes the various fast travel points obsolete.

Scizor Indigo Disk Pokemon Scarlet Violet

5Scizor

Why Run When Players Can Hover

There are many Pokemon in the Paldea region that can hover. Some are ghost-types, like Haunter and Banette, while others are more natural, like Yanma. However, very few of these Pokemon look as good as Scizor while doing so. This bright red, steel bug has always stood out as one of the better-lookingPokemondesigns since it was introduced in Generation 2. Not much has changed in the new DLC, either. Only now, the graphics on the Switch allow Scizor’s detailed armor to shine.

This Pokemon is great to watch as it zips around the region with its wings. It can even float above the water to make reaching new locations a breeze.

Walking Wake Indigo Disk Pokemon Scarlet Violet

4Walking Wake

The Pokemon To Use When Crossing Water

Suicune is a fan-favorite legendary, which is why the developers decided to try and drum up some excitement forThe Indigo DiskDLC by revealing its paradox form, Walking Wake, early in 2023. Sadly, not many fans were pleased with how this ancient dog looked, and many players saw no need to introduce a new version of this classic Pokemon.

Fortunately, many fans have changed their minds now that synchronizing with Pokemon is a thing. Lots of water-type Pokemon can swim in the water, but none can walk across it like Walking Wake. It is this ability that makes journeying around Paldea as this Pokemon a joy. Players get to do something with this paradox form that nothing else can do.

Varoom Indigo Disk Pokemon Scarlet Violet

3Varoom

The Fastest Traveling Pokemon

Varoom is a new Pokemon to the franchise and was first introduced to fans as they explored the Paldea region. This Pokemon takes inspiration from the motor industry, and it shows that by being an engine with a face. Its evolved form, Revaroom, did get a bit of a spotlight in the Generation 9 games, as it was used as the ace Pokemon byall the Team Star Leaders. However, without that addition, Varoom was a good candidate for a Pokemon that would go unnoticed in the future.

That all changed, though, with the introduction ofPokemonsynchronization. There are no stats to clarify Pokemon speed in the overworld, but Varoom would clearly be labeled as one of the quickest Pokemon in the game if there were. Varoom glides across the terrain at great speed, and even its evolved form is slower.

Donphan and Iron Treads Pokemon Scarlet Violet

2Iron Treads / Donphan

The Tire Pokemon Lives Up To Its Name

Generation 2 was responsible for introducing a few new interesting Pokemon, one of which being Donphan. This Pokemon is based on an elephant with a tire pattern on its back. As such, it can roll into a ball and zip around like a loose tire. The way Donphan moves has always looked cool, and the Pokemon received two paradoxic forms inPokemon: Scarlet and Violet: Great Tusk and Iron Treads.

While the past form of Donphan inPokemon: Scarlet,Great Tusk, is great in battle, it doesn’t quite move the same in the overworld as its two counterparts. Both Donphan and Iron Treads tuck themselves in and roll across Paldea just as fans have always dreamed.

Gholdengo Indigo Disk Pokemon Scarlet Violet

1Gholdengo

The Unique One-Thousandth Pokemon

Pokemon: Scarlet and Violethad the additional task of being the game that introduced players to the franchise’s one-thousandthPokemon. Gholdengo was the result, and a solid gold Pokemon that evolves from a mimic seemeda little lackluster at the timeof the initial game’s release.

However, the opinion on Gholdengo has certainly changed since the arrival ofThe Indigo DiskDLC. This Pokemon carries a surfboard, which the player can use to travel around the Paldea region in synchronization mode. Therefore, this unique inclusion makes Gholdengo one of the best Pokemon to use in this setting, as it turnsPokemon Scarlet and Violetinto more of aTony Hawk’s Pro Skaterclone.
