Updated July 17, 2025 by Alexandra O’Leary:The Sims 4 has been the latest and greatest entry in the franchise for ten years. Released in 2014, it easily has the best longevity of almost any game on the market, and that’s largely thanks to the amount of additional content available.
Although EA has finally released some limited information on The Sims 5, or “Project Rene,” they have confirmed they will continue working on The Sims 4 alongside it. Hopefully, this means that content like expansion packs and kits, which play a huge part in keeping the game feeling new and exciting, will continue to be released. There are a total of 27 kits currently available, ranging from fashion to items to architecture. These fantastic and inexpensive DLCs offer a specific kind of content and are perfect for players who want a certain kind of look for their Sim or home.

27Country Kitchen
Rustic Kitchen Decor
TheCountry Kitchen Kitis similar to theCottage LivingExpansion Pack: if players love that homely, rustic, cozy vibe, this is the one to go for. Standout items include the retro fridge and retro cooker, which look much prettier than the usual fridges and cookers available inThe Sims 4.
The focus on the kitchen means players will get a wide range of cabinets and wall shelves, which makes it easy to create that cluttered, homely look. In fact, the kit introduces some new clutter items, including an oven dish, bread bin, and some flowers.

26Bathroom Clutter
Comfortable Mess
Bathroom Clutteris a fun pick for Sims who spend a lot of time at home, and perhaps have a big family of all different ages. It offers items like false teeth in a cup of water, toothpaste tubes, and new floor mats.
The main draw ofBathroom Clutteris the added choice for bathroom decor, but other than that it doesn’t add much that the standardTheSims 4doesn’t already have. If players are invested in creating a vivid bathroom scene then it might be a good choice.

25Everyday Clutter
Realistic Homely Items
Everyday Clutteris a good option for players who want to add a ‘lived-in’ feel to their homes. It adds a bunch of unique items that give the impression of busy Sims who have places to be and no time to tidy. It makes a house feel a little more personal and individual, with items like a phone and keys, coffee cups, and a busy bag hook.
Although these items are still great additions to the game, overall it doesn’t add much to the decor of a Sim house. It might be the right choice for some, but for others, it can just end up making their Sim house look messy and cluttered. It depends on the atmosphere players want, but there are better kits out there to show personality.

24Desert Luxe
Sleek, Stylish Decor
Desert Luxeis a kit for specific individuals who like a minimalist, earthy look to their Sim home. It adds various household items like a fireplace and sunbed, as well as decorative things like curtains and lampshades. They all have a very specific style to them that does tie in with neutral desert chic.
There aren’t many items in the kit, and all of them are so specific that unless players are looking for this distinct style, most of them aren’t very useful. Other kits offer a little more variety in their theme and would blend in better with other Sim house items.

23Basement Treasures
Forgotten Heirlooms And Throwback Items
Basement Treasuresis a good option for thrifty players or those who want to create a spooky attic for their Sims to explore. It’s full of dusty, old-fashioned items like a crate of vinyls, black and white photos, and chests. It has all the makings of a haunted house or dark thriller playthrough.
Even thoughBasement Treasuresopens up a new style of gameplay that lends itself well to players who like to create storylines for their Sims, there’s not too much in the kit that gamers would put anywhere else in the house. It is marketed for a basement, and that’s certainly where most of this stuff would stay.

22Pastel Pop
Cute And Pretty Decor
Pastel Popcaters to a certain style of home and, as the name suggests, keeps to pastel colors. There are a bunch of items in this kit that are very different from standardThe Sims 4items, meaning they’ll change up the vibe of a Sim house. Some items included are adorable wall decorations, a funky mirror, and a rock salt lamp.
Like most interior design kits, this selection of items may only appeal to certain players. Those who want more sleek looks will have a hard time finding much in this kit to place in their home. On the whole, some items would easily slot into a pre-existing Sim house, meaning they’re pretty versatile decorations.

21Modern Menswear
Contemporary Fashion For The Men’s Wardrobe
The lack of stylish menswear in the base game is something many players have pointed out over the years.Modern Menswearattempts to fill that gap with a decent range of CAS items in a subtle color palette.
Standout items include the leather jacket and the check shirt. Some of the pieces are pretty out there, however: the pants look kind of weird, and there could be a wider selection of patterns.

20Industrial Loft
Minimalistic Interior Design
In contrast to the more homely packs,Industrial Loftadds some modern items ideal for apartments. Inspired by industrial lofts in Brooklyn, there are some very nice items in this kit, including wood-and-steel beds and sofas, and some cool, chunky wall decorations. The neon lighting is a particularly nice touch.
The best thing about theIndustrial Loft Kitis the windows and doors. If players like large, almost floor-to-ceiling windows, they will enjoy the items on offer in this kit. The sliding doors are nice, too. The whole pack works well with theCity Living Expansion Pack.

19Throwback Fit
Blast From The Past Clothes
Time to get retro!Throwback Fitis a clothing-based kit with some excellent retro items. A common complaint aboutThe Sims 4is the lack of nice casual clothing, but this kit adds some key items that players can use again and again. The hoodies and crop tops look great, and the bucket hats are a nice nod to the ’90s.
There are some children’s items available too, including tracksuits and an adorable sunflower bucket hat. The footwear is incredible, with some ’80s-style sneakers in rainbow colors for all Sims to enjoy.
18Decor To The Max
Vibrant Interior Design
This is not a pack for minimalists!Decor to the Maxadds some eclectic items to the mix, in a range of bold patterns. The carpets and wallpapers are interesting, with the tiger-patterned wallpaper being a good choice for feature walls.
Also available are statement lamps, rugs, and some extremely colorful sofas. Ideal if players want to build a mansion stuffed with interesting treasures to find, or a modern apartment with a few standout items. The fireplace is a good addition to the game, and it has some great color swatches to match any room.
