Brawlhallahasreleased a new game mode in Patch 7.04 called Nightmare Horde Mode. This mode is a more challenging version of Horde Mode and is meant for experienced players who want to test their skills, though it is available forBrawlhallabeginnersas well. According to the developers, Nightmare Horde Mode is the game’s first increased difficulty variation of a game mode.
InBrawlhalla’s standard Horde Mode, players battle against legions of gargoyles that come in waves. They must work with other players or bots to defend two gates from the enemies, and it can be played both online and offline. If players are able to survive 25 waves of gargoyles, they get the challenging achievement “To Hell and Back.”

Nightmare Horde Mode, on the other hand, is meant to be an extremely difficult version of the original game mode forBrawlhallaplayers, with gargoyles coming in much greater numbers much more quickly. The rules of the game mode are the same, but the new variation has new designs for the gargoyles and a new variation of Demon Island. Making it through the waves of enemies is significantly more challenging than in the original Horde Mode.
Along with the new game mode, Patch 7.04 included some other major updates toBrawlhalla. Some of these updates included new Mallhalla items, such as a new West Cassidy and a faint emote, which shows characters putting their hand over their head and falling comically to the ground. Developers also decided to remove the longer dodge cooldown from the test features, because it was too difficult for players and negatively affected gameplay.Brawlhallaalso added a test feature that shows a visual effect when a character is disarmed, and it revealed the Nightblade bundle, which includes new skins and avatars for Hattori. Players looking to change up the game even more can tryusing different mods forBrawlhalla.
Nightmare Horde Mode and other updates come after theAvatar update forBrawlhallaand in the wake of the week-long Valhallentine’s 2023 event, a Valentine’s Day update that included a variety of new skins and other love-themed additions. The day after Valentine’s Day, Nightmare Horde Mode was announced. The transition from Valhallentine’s 2023 to the new Nightmare Horde Mode is both stark and funny and reminds players thatBrawlhallais a game that is much more about beating up other players than love.Brawlhalla’snew well-timed game mode is sure to both entertain and challenge players. If players enjoy Nightmare Horde Mode, there could potentially be more difficult game modes to come.
