It hasn’t taken long forCall of Duty: Warzoneto become the new darling of the battle royale genre, managing to garner30 million players in only ten dayssince launch. Even notable streamers like Shroud have taken to the game quite quickly. However, Shroud does seem to have some complaints aboutWarzone;one in particular being the cross-play feature.

Cross-play has gradually become more normalized over the years, as it allows console and PC players to finally play alongside or against each other. It’s evena selling point for the Xbox Series X. Shroud has stated that he doesn’t mind the feature in and of itself, but he believes that it shouldn’t be allowed during tournament play as console players do have a slight advantage.

In similar titles, console players have had access to an aim-assist feature, and that’s no different forCall of Duty: Warzone. It’s because of this discrepancy that Shroud doesn’t think tournaments should mix console and PC players together.

“No random schmuck can just pick up mouse and keyboard and do somewhat well, they’re going to suck, and they’re going to suck a lot,” he said during a stream with his teammate GaGod. Both of them were playingWarzone, with Shroud on PC and GaGod on console. “But, if you grab like a controller there is a chance it will just assist you in some situations.” Even GaGod admitted that he felt he had an advantage from playing on a console.

Shroud did reiterate that while he does actually love the cross-play feature, he’s held the belief that it shouldn’t be allowed in tournaments for a while.

“I’ve always been like this and I’ve always said there shouldn’t be aim assist or controllers or whatever in tournaments. You shouldn’t mix it. Either you go only controller or only PC. InApex, for example, when you have half and half, the competitive integrity is already gone from the get-go.”

Shroud has also expressed concerns thatWarzonewill beimpossible to balance in the future, due to it being so heavily tied toCall of Duty: Modern Warfarein terms of the weapons' stats.

It’s entirely possible thatWarzonewill receive separate tournaments for console and PC players, as the likes ofFortnitehave done something similar, but it’s unlikely that those who play the game casually will care about the discrepancy.
