Though the story of this mission seems derivative of the kinds ofheist movies that have also inspired games likePath of Exile, right down to a description in the launch trailer telling players to “find out if the enigmatic Rosie from Baton Rogue can really be trusted,” fans will probably be happy to have more content to dive into.Desperados 3is one of the highest-rated games of 2020 on aggregate site OpenCritic, and a new three-part story may bolster that acclaim further.

The base campaign inDesperados 3is a prequel to the original game in the franchise, 2001’sDesperados: Wanted Dead or Alive. There are16 missions across three chapters inDesperados 3, taking around 25 hours to complete, so it will be interesting to see how Money for the Vultures builds upon that experience and bridges the gap between games when all is said and done.

If all of that content still isn’t enough for hardcore fans of theDesperadosseries, there are even more Wild West experiences for players to get their hands on outside of the video game. TheDesperados Pen & Paper RPGreleased alongsideDesperados 3, and its rulebook is currently free to download.

Developer Mimimi Games, which had a hand in creating the adjacent tabletop RPG, seems to have done well for itself when reviving this cult classic tactical strategy series. Fans ofDesperados 3can take on its first major DLC mission now, but will have to wait to see whether the developer sticks the landing in regards to its overall narrative.

Desperados 3is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
