ADestiny 2developer is receiving some backlash due to their criticism ofDiablo 4. WhileDestinyandDiabloare two completely different games with unique gameplay mechanics, both share some elements that could be comparable, especially the multi-player and leveling aspects. The title has been out for over a week, but fans have already been quick to form theirfeedback forDiablo 4, and have been comparing it to their favorite games.
Even beforeDiablo 4’s launch,Destiny 2fans have been suggesting some featureswhich could translate well to the isometric action-RPG title. Incidentally, some mechanics would benefitDiablo 4.However, in the same sense, some gameplay nuances would translate well to both games, that fans are hoping the developers could take notes from each other. While players are mostly commenting in good spirits, it seems that an employee of Bungie may have taken a potshot at the newly releasedDiablo 4.

One member ofDestiny 2’s development team has tweeted thatDiablo 4’s enemy scaling is a lazy feature, which has led to gamers defending Blizzard’s latest release. While the aforementioned tweet has been deleted, fans were quick to defend Blizzard. Players were happy with this feature and mentioned how convenient the scaling was. The feature itself is a mainstay of other games, but many users suspect that Diablo 4 was singled out due to its successful launch. Even Blizzard President Mike Ybarra even responded sarcastically, implying that the team is unfazed.
There are arguably more lessons thatDestiny 2can learn fromDiablo 4than vice versa. Some fans thinkDestiny 2should copy the transmogrificationfeatures available inDiablo 4and other games. Some quality-of-life mechanics thatD4has could help the looter-shooter maintain their player base as Blizzard’s defenders have mentioned how much more time they’ve been spending grinding in Sanctuary thanDestiny 2’s recent season reset.

There area lot more things that makeDiablo 4goodthat is part of someDestiny 2players' wishlists such as the presence of world bosses. Whatever the Bungie employee had in mind with the tweet may have backfired since Blizzard’s beloved action-RPG has so many things it does better thanDestiny 2.Diablo 4is enjoying its huge success and is still in its infancy, with a lot more room to grow. Only time will tell where these companies' rivalry will end up, but at the moment, it seems fans are on Blizzard’s side.
Diablo 4is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
