One ofDestiny 2’s top streamers has recently completed one of the most difficult feats currently available in the game by making an extraordinarily challenging attempt on the latest raid to hit the game. Continuing to add to the list of prolific players tocomplete Deep Stone Crypt with 2-player teams, Gladd recently streamed the accomplishment, posting an accompanying clip of the final takedown to commemorate his victory.
Joined by fellowDestiny 2streamer Vendetta, the two managed to make it all the way to Taniks and defeat the new raid boss with their own new strategy for keeping the party under six players. However, in this case, a change to the regular strategies has allowed to sidestep some of the previously necessary items and abilities, which has let Gladd and Vendetta finish the raid while both playing as Hunters.

Before this most recent Hunters-only run, the previous meta ofDeep Stone Crypt and its bossesrequired any 2-player team to be made up of a Warlock and a Titan. This is because the older strategies utilized Warlock and Titan-specific abilities and exotic gear, with the Shiver Strike on the Behemoth subclass previously being a necessity for escaping the final boss' detainment bubble. According to a Tweet by Gladd after finally defeating Taniks, this second Hunter-only run was considerably more difficult than the more reliable way that the raid boss has been dispatched before.
It should be mentioned that both Gladd and Vendetta have beatenDeep Stone Crypt’s Tanikswith reduced teams before, so they were both fairly well versed in how to maintain themselves during the onslaughts of damage and adds that the boss would through at them. As is often the case for these incredibly difficult runs, both players were required to hit beats in a near perfect rhythm, changing their loadouts on the fly in order to best adapt to every phase as they approach. However, as can be seen in Gladd’s clip of the encounter, both players are able to keep up with just fine as they race to check off the next challenge available inDestiny 2’s most recent raid.
Considering that theBeyond Lightexpansion has only been out for a couple of months at the time of this feat, and this most recent raid came out a few weeks after that, the race to complete everyDeep Stone Crypt challengeis still well underway. There are still a few milestones to overcome, and some might not be achieved until players have been able to raise their light level out of the ordinary bounds of the activity when next season increases player power. That being said, players like Gladd and Vendetta, along with the countless raiding clans that constantly push for new milestones will likely be finding new ways to break Taniks for quite some time.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
