Hunters inDestiny 2are causing problems in the Crucible again, as players are using the Threadrunner subclass to deny other players from using their Supers accurately and even causing several weapons to experience tracking issues. The latest expansion and its woes haven’t spared the nimble Guardians, as shortly after launch, the Silkstrike Super was melting the endgame ofDestiny 2due to a bug before Bungie hastily fixed it.
So far, theLightfallexpansion ofDestiny 2has been a controversial journey for the game, drawing criticisms for its story, lackluster rewards, and underperforming endgame encounters. The introduction of the new darkness-based Strand elemental subclass and all of its accompanying tricks of the trade, however, have been received quite warmly by the community and critics alike. The new subclass has successfully changedhow players approach PvE and PvP inDestiny 2, allowing a sense of verticality in movement and combat and providing more options to control the enemy.

As a part of their ability kit, Strand Hunters can create a custom Tether point by using their Grapple ability anywhere in the world, which everyone else can subsequently Grapple onto. Cheese Forever, a famousDestiny 2YouTuber, has posted a video of them using these custom Tether points to block enemy Super abilities in the Crucible. The YouTuber explains this interaction as a possible consequence of the Tether points acting as physical objects in-game. The video showcases the player using the Tether points to block Warlock’s Chaos Reach and Nova Bomb, and Titan’s Hammer of Sol, with players assuming that the Titan Thundercrash can also be interrupted in this fashion.
Players should note that this feature can only block the larger Nova Bomb, and upon colliding with the Tether point, the smaller orbs can still track players. Several players have noted that the auto-tracking arrows from Ticuu’s Divination Exotic Bow’s hip-fire mode can also target these Tether points, seemingly recognizing the objects as enemy combatants. While this issue isn’t asenjoyable as grapple-skating inDestiny 2, it’s still an intriguing interaction with practical applications.
Several players have stated that this interaction doesn’t break normal Crucible Playlist matches but can quickly become a problem in Competitive mode and Trials of Osiris, where highly skilled players can deny Supers with one button press in clutch situations. Players jumping into Trials this week to take advantage of the increased rank gain andtry their luck with the newDestiny 2SMGshould beware of Threadrunner Hunters trying to ruin their day with this one simple trick.
Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
