Destiny 2, Season of the Splicer brings back a key member of the Vanguard, Ikora Rey. Since the beginning of the franchise, Rey has served as the Warlock Vanguard, returning to the role inDestiny 2. Unfortunately, since her plan of constructing a Vex portal in the Tower, she’s largely been in the background without much to do. Thankfully, the formidable Warlock is once again a featured part of the seasonal storyline.

Ikora Rey’s return was not quite like Guardians may have remembered her. Veteran Guardians who have been hearing Ikora’s voice for years immediately knew that beloved Warlock Vanguard’s voice actress had been recast. While there has not been an official announcement by Bungie, the new voice actress has taken to social media to announce using one of Ikora’s introductory lines from Season of the Splicer, “It’s been a long time, Guardian…”.
Many Guardians agree it has been a long time since they have heard from their beloved Warlock Vanguard, but many were wondering who was now lending their voice to the character. Between Twitter and Instagram, Guardians may have their answer as voice actress Mara Junot took to social media to subtlyannounce her arrival as Ikora Rey.
Mara retweetedDestiny 2’s Season of the Splicer trailerwith the quote, “It’s been a long time, Guardian…”. While not confirmation, following her Instagram link reveals another post of Ikora Rey’s voice-over dialogue over the Season of the Splicer trailer. Here, Mara posts, “Season of the Splicer has arrived… (and apparently so have I.)”. This paired with #IkoraRey on Mara’s Twitter bio all but confirm the voice actress’ role as the new voice of Ikora Rey.
Video game fans may recognize Mara’s voice as Lisa fromGenshin Impact, orMortal Kombat 11’s Sindel. Mara Junot has an extensive history as a voice actress, leaving Ikora Rey’s commanding voice in expert hands, vocal cords?
Destiny 2fans may realize that Commander Zavala is the last remaining Vanguard who has kept his original voice actor, Lance Reddick. Thankfully, Lance seems to really enjoy his role evenrecording voice snippets as Commander ZavalaforDestinyfans, so Guardians may not have to see Zavala’s voice replaced for a while longer.
Ikora Rey’s new voice is sure to continue inspiring many Guardians and Eliksni alike. Pioneering the movement to bring the Eliksni into the Last City, requires a commanding voice that Mara seems ready to bring toDestiny 2.
