Destiny 2players are calling on Bungie to revert a change made to the popular Whisper of Rime Stasis fragment. InDestiny 2, Stasis fragments may help players create a powerful Stasis build for PvP and PvE activities, but a recent change has negatively affected builds utilizing the Whisper of Rime fragment.
Stasis subclasses were first introduced with the launch ofDestiny 2’sBeyond Light expansionin November 2020. Beyond Light allowed players to harness Darkness powers through Stasis in order to freeze and shatter enemies on Europa. The aspect and fragment system was also introduced with Stasis, lettingDestiny 2players customize their Guardian’s subclass abilities and create personalized builds. This particular system was carried over into the 3.0 reworks for Light-based subclasses, and Lightfall’s Strand subclass would make further improvements upon its foundation.Destiny 2fans have been calling on improvements to Stasis subclasses, and the community is displeased with Bungie’s handling of the subclass following a change to the Whisper of Rime Stasis fragment.

Destiny 2fan Grottymink57776 and fellow players want Bungie to revert the massive nerf applied to the Whisper of Rime Stasis fragment in PvE content. This particular nerf reduces the healing effect of Whisper of Rime by 60% after collecting a Stasis shard. Although Whisper of Rime Stasis grants an overshield, the nerf greatly decreases survivability when compared to its original state. The change leads many players to believe that Whisper of Rime and Stasis subclasses are long overdue for a rework similar toLight 3.0 subclasses inDestiny 2.
SomeDestiny 2players, including Numberlittle and Blackfang08, are pointing out the lack of an overshield aspect for Stasis subclasses following the nerf to Whisper of Rime. Others believe the Stasis subclass is the weakest one in the current sandbox as its overall damage output and usability in end-game content are falling behind Light and Strand subclasses.
Whisper of Rime’s nerf highlights some of the problems currently affectingStasis subclasses inDestiny 2, and the community likely won’t settle down until Bungie makes substantial changes to Stasis aspects, fragments, and abilities. It’s unclear whether Bungie would rework Stasis subclasses in the near future, but buffs and fan-requested changes could encourage more players to try out the subclass in seasonal content and raids.
Although changes to Stasis subclasses appear unlikely for now, Bungie is expected to reveal major news at its upcomingDestiny 2showcase on August 22. The showcase coincides with the expected start date forDestiny 2Season 22, so Bungie might share insight into what’s changing with the live sandbox during the season.Destiny 2fans can also expect details aboutThe Final Shape expansion and Cayde-6’s returnat the upcoming showcase.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
