Summary
Destiny 2frequently features special events in the Eververse store, where armor and weapon ornaments can be purchased, either for real money or in-game currency. Before its most recent event, for example, players could obtain armor inspired by BioWare’sMass Effectfranchise. Today, however, the Eververse store features armor inspired by one ofDestiny 2’s most popular exotics:the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher.
Destiny 2’s Gjallarhorn armor, called the “Gjallarheart” gear set, is inspired by the design of the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher. This instantly begs the question of whetherDestiny 2should continue creating exotic-inspired armor like this, as there are plenty of other exotics in the game that might translate over to an armor set rather well.

Destiny 2 Should Feature Armor Inspired by Other Exotics
Destiny 2could adapt any one of its exotics into a unique armor set, but there are a few that stand out more than others based on overall design and appearance. Not all ofDestiny 2’s exotics boast distinct visuals, but those that do should be put up for consideration if Bungie chooses to continue developing exotic-inspired armor.
Whisper of the Worm
Destiny 2has seen plenty of interesting exotics over the years, but none captivated the community quite like theWhisper of the Wormsniper rifle when it arrived in 2018. The weapon itself is based on the Black Spindle sniper rifle fromDestiny, but its appearance and power were enhanced forDestiny 2. Aside from its raw power, what made Whisper of the Worm such an exciting exotic to obtain was the quest it was tied to, as it was unlike anything the game had ever seen and came as a surprise update that quickly went viral. As far as exotic-inspired armor goes, Whisper of the Worm is a perfect candidate, if not simply for the Taken Blight visuals it possesses.
Deathbringer
The Deathbringer rocket launcherwas added toDestiny 2’s exotic weapon pool in theShadowkeepexpansion and quickly became a fan-favorite for its unique appearance and Intrinsic Trait. Unlike many ofDestiny 2’s exotics, the Deathbringer looks best without an ornament, as the Void smoke emanating from its exposed chassis is hard to pass up. Bungie has been implementing motion effects intoDestiny 2’s armor more often in recent memory, so the Deathbringer would be the perfect exotic for armor inspiration.
Vexcalibur
Vexcalibur is an exotic Void glaive that was introduced inSeason of Defiance,Destiny 2’s 20th season, making it a fairly young exotic. That being said, its appearance sets it far apart from other exotics in the game and is arguably one ofDestiny 2’s best-looking exotics to date. Its Vex-inspired appearance would be interesting to see adapted into an armor set, as it would be the first semi-translucent armor set to grace the game with its presence.
Outbreak Perfected
The Outbreak Perfected pulse rifleis another exotic weapon that would look fantastic as an armor set, especially if the armor set included the red particles that continuously swirl around the weapon’s barrel. Aside from the red particles that would add to the armor’s animation, the Outbreak Perfected features deep black and red colors, as well as some carbon fiber textures that would make the armor pop. Finally, red electric currents can be seen traveling through the weapon’s lining, and there is little doubt this would serve the armor’s visual appeal well.
Destiny 2 Can’t Shy Away from Full Sets of Inspired Armor
There are more exoticsDestiny 2could adapt into armor sets, but there are some that arguably deserve it more than others. Despite the minor backlash the Gjallarheart armor has received on account of being only obtainable with real money, the hope is that Bungie turns this event into a trend and the game continues to see more exotic-inspired armor sets implemented into the game — perhaps even available for purchase using Bright Dust.
