From what’s been shown off so far ahead of the release ofDestiny 2’s The Final Shape expansion, it’s shaping up to deliver on its promises. Destiny 2 Should Consider Adding a Third New Darkness Subclass in The Final Shape

Depending on which parts ofDestiny 2’s community are asked, some players anticipate that The Final Shape will introduce a third Darkness Subclass toDestiny 2, in addition to the three new Light Subclass Supers. A common theory for players who believe this to be true is that a third Darkness Subclass could be based on the Siva element. One of the main reasons this is brought up is that many players also believe that at some pointDestiny 2will still reprise the Wrath of the Machine Raid from the originalDestinyexpansion where Siva was introduced.

Regardless of what kind of Element a hypothetical third Darkness Subclass forDestiny 2focuses on, Bungie should seriously consider adding another Darkness Subclass. Between the relatively new 3.0 Subclass format inDestiny 2, Subclass-based Champion counters, Elemental weapon perks, Elemental Pickups, dedicated buffs, and debuffs, another Subclass inDestiny 2is a game-changer waiting to happen. Though the three new Supers may be all that the expansion provides, it is hard not to wish for one more Darkness subclass alongside them.

What Players Hope to See in Destiny 2’s Final Shape Expansion

The Final Shape needs to strike a good balance with the difficulty throughout the expansion. One of the main complaints fromDestiny 2’s recent Lightfall expansion is that the new difficulty changes haven’t all been enjoyable. A prime example of this is thedifficulty of the Ghost of the Deep Dungeon. The difficulty in this Dungeon mostly boils down to the fact that the bosses have ridiculously large amounts of health, making the fights drag on. With all the pressure concerning The Final Shape expansion’s Raid in particular, the difficulty needs to be properly balanced.

Another thing that players hope for fromDestiny 2’s The Final Shape expansion is for the storytelling to be on the same level as the fan-favorite Witch Queen expansion. This can be a bit difficult to nail down, but the epic setting, unique enemies, clever plot, and environmental puzzles are likely the common reasons why the Witch Queen expansion is held in such high regard. The Final Shape expansion seemingly already has some interesting enemies and locations for players to encounter, specifically with thenew Subjugator enemy typeand the Pale Heart setting.

It would generally be nice to see more vault storage space and armor mods introduced toDestiny 2in the near future, and The Final Shape expansion could be a great time to do both. At the moment, Armor Charge mods are the current meta inDestiny 2, but primarily because there isn’t much else to choose from. With this in mind,Destiny 2’s Armor Charge buildsare long overdue for some healthy competition. Also, with all the new gear constantly being added to Destiny 2, vault storage space is becoming an increasingly pressing issue yet again.

The final Shape Expansion should also consider bringing back some ofDestiny 2’s vaulted content. This has always been a request sinceDestiny 2first introduced the Destiny Content Vault, but the Final Shape has a realistic way to pull this off.The Pale Heart destinationis said to be a return to some ofDestiny 2’s iconic locations and past events, which is a perfect opportunity to bring back old content in meaningful ways. Specifically, seeing more of the original Strikes and retired maps for Crucible and Gambit return would be a nice way to bring the Light and Darkness saga to a satisfying and nostalgic conclusion.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
