Destiny 2is a game that features a rich and complex lore, with many characters and factions vying for power and influence in a universe threatened by cosmic forces. One of these characters is Crow, a Guardian who has been a focal point inDestiny 2’sstory from Season of the Hunt to Season of the Lost in Year 4 and then in Season of the Risen and Season of The Haunted in Year 5. In a recent ViDoc from Bungie about the Lightfall Expansion, Crow can be seen with Amanda Holliday. This, combined with the artwork for Season of The Defiance, has players thinking that Crow could take some of the story’s lead again.
Crow’s history is as layered as it is tragic. He was onceDestiny 2’s Uldren Sov, the brother of Mara Sov, the queen of the Awoken. Later, Uldren was corrupted by Riven, a wish-granting dragon who served the Hive God Savathun. Under the Voice of Riven’s influence, Uldren killed Cayde-6, one of the Vanguard’s most beloved Guardians and leaders, thinking he was doing everything in his power to bring back his beloved sister, Mara. Uldren was then killed by either Petra Venj or the player’s Guardian in revenge at the end of the Forsaken campaign. However, time passed, and Uldren was resurrected as a Guardian named Crow by a Ghost called Glint. Like other notable characters in theDestinyuniverse, the lore around Uldren Sov and Crow is quite interesting and worth learning about.

Why Crow is One of Destiny 2’s Best Characters
Early on in Crow’s new life, he was hated and shunned by many Guardians, as they still blamed Crow forCayde-6’s death inDestiny 2. The only exceptions early on were Osiris, Spider, and Amanda Holliday. Thankfully, during previous seasons, Crow has shown moments of great growth when interacting with others, the Nightmare of Uldren Sov, and the player Guardian. After coming to terms with his prior life in Season of The Haunted, Crow also gained further respect from his allies and players alike.
Lightfall could offer an opportunity for Crow to play an even bigger role in the game’s narrative, especially with his connection toDestiny 2’s Mara Sovand the forces of Light and Darkness. Lightfall will take players to Neomuna on Neptune, where they will face off against The Witness. This enigmatic figure commands The Shadow Legion and Emperor Calus, an exiled Cabal leader who worships him. Players are already speculating how Crow may find himself involved with Mara Sov during Lightfall, more likely as part of the events of Season of Defiance, as it looks like she may be preparing some divisive actions against The Witness.

Destiny 2’s Season of Defiance Shouldn’t Feature Mara Sov Without Crow
InDestiny 2’sThe Season of Defiance, Mara Sov is seemingly taking the fight to The Witness. Alternatively, she may try to recruit Crow into her plans as she would when he was Uldren. However, with Crow having grown as a new person, he may be the one defying Mara. Another way Crow could appear again is as the Hunter Vanguard, the title that Cayde-6 once had. Due to a bet, Crow is technically qualified for the job due to Uldren Sov killing Cayde-6 and technically being a Hunter, which was what the Exo wanted as part of his Vanguard Dare.
It will be interesting to see how the first Year 6 Season coming withthe Lightfall expansionplays out between Crow and Mara Sov. Ultimately, Crow is a character that got a lot of attention and development inDestiny 2’s story, but his role seems to be far more important than what meets the eye, and he should get more space as the plot continues around characters that Crow has a history with. Additionally, he has undergone many changes since his resurrection, and fans are eager to see Crow live up to his new potential.
