TheXbox 360remains one of the most popular video game consoles of all time. It still holds a place in the top 10 bestselling gaming consoles of all time, and while this could change over time due to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S’s rapidly increasing sales figures, many fans will still remember the older machine fondly. There are even those who were using their Xbox 360 regularly until last year. Specifically, some fans of EA’sNCAA College Footballgames were using the Xbox 360due to a newer entry in the series not being available.
Despite plenty of gamers still enjoying their time with anXbox 360 and playing some classic titles, it is no secret that the console is old. It has been over 15 years since the Xbox 360 first launched back in 2005, and with two console generations happening between then and now, there are more than a few of the older machines that have been thrown out. Of all places, one gamer managed to find an Xbox 360 washed up on the shores of a beach.

Posting a picture of their find to Reddit, the gamer showed an impressive amount of hardware knowledge as they identified the console even without there being much left of it. The exterior of the old Xbox is almost entirely gone, with most of the interior having rusted too. There’s a motherboard and fan that can be made out among the wreckage, but apart from those features, it is hard to tell that the console is anXbox 360at all.
When asking Reddit what they should do with their strange find, the comments had some interesting responses. One stated that the finder should throw the old console back into the sea so that whatever turtle was using it could return to gaming. However, another fan pointed out that whatever sea creature was using the console had likely upgraded by now. This isn’t the first time gamers have caught a glimpse of a console in a state of ruin. Earlier this year, an airport called in abomb disposal unit for a damaged PlayStationfound in the terminal.
While the Xbox 360 may have run its course and there are likely other gamers across the world finding the machines in similar states of disrepair, the second generation Xbox has had a clear impact on the video game industry. From being praised for the design of its controller that would influence future Xbox consoles, to gamers still usingclassic Xbox 360 gamerpics, the old hardware has left an important mark on the industry.
