Summary
ADiablo 4player seems to have discovered a Brutal Heart which the community has deemed to be “broken." This is one of the four types of Malignant Hearts that launched withDiablo 4Season 1, and has now become a topic of discussion among the fans.
Diablo 4Season of the Malignantintroduced the Brutal, Vicious, Wrathful, and Devious Hearts that players can socket into items matching its type. These hearts provide the character with certain abilities that are fairly similar to perks obtained through Legendary Aspects and gems. Out of the four, Wrathful hearts are the rarest and the most powerful ones in the game. However, it seems that a player has managed to find a rare Brutal Heart that is seemingly overpowered and is a great addition to their character’s build.

In a post on theDiablo 4subreddit, user Loglover666 posted the photo of a Brutal Malignant Heart called “Caged Heart of the Decrepit Aura” which is almost too overpowered. The perk description says that it automatically curses enemies with the Decrepify skill for 12 seconds when “at least 0 enemies” are near the player. For the uninitiated, Decrepify slows and weakens the enemies in the cursed area and costs around 10 seconds. With this Brutal Heart, the perk basically keeps this effect activated at all times and proves to be a great asset for any Necromancer build inDiablo 4.
The reason this has become a talking point in the community is because of its perk that says it requires “at least 0 enemies” to proc it. Players have found other Malignant Hearts that require at least 1 or 2 enemies to activate their perks, but this is the one to try and obtain as it basically automates oneparticular skill for Necromancers inDiablo 4, which can be very useful in higher tier activities. Players in the comments theorized that this was possibly a mistake made by the developers and that it might get nerfed soon, but since Blizzard is yet to address this, some believe it could also be deliberate.
Despite the community’s disappointment with the Season 1 update inDiablo 4, this particular item seems to have lightened the mood a little as players have appreciated its addition to the game. However, it doesn’t change the fact that there are still a lot of issues the developers need to address to improve the game’s experience. Thankfully, Blizzard has announced anumber of changes it will be making toDiablo 4soon in an emergency Campfire chat held last Friday.
Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
