Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliancereleases next month, and developers at Tuque Games have officially confirmed that split-screen co-op is coming to the next-gen action brawler.

During a recent developer stream,Dungeons and Dragons: Dark AllianceLead Game Designer Kevin Neibert announced that the upcoming title would offer split-screen co-op in addition to online co-op. Neibert joined a stream on the officialDark AllianceYouTube channel with tech animator Alexandra Parent to unveil some gameplay of Dark Alliance while discussing the game with hosts Rhykker, and Deejay Knight.

During the recentDungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliancedeveloperstream, Neibert and Parent led Rhykker and Deejay Knight through a dungeon full of Draugr and Goblins while discussing the game’s upcoming release. The developers announced during the stream and on theDark AllianceTwitter account that gamers will be able to co-op with friends at home and abroad alike, though couch co-op will not be available inDark Allianceat launch.

Developers at Tuque apparently received a lot of fan feedback that inspiredDungeons and Dragons: Dark Allianceto include local co-op in addition to the online multiplayer. Apparently, it’s Tuque’s main priority to support two-player split-screen couch co-op for Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC post-launch. Although Tuque hasn’t confirmed anofficial release date forDark Alliancesplit-screen, the team confirmed that it’s working to have the feature ready for the first free DLC.

This free DLC forDark Alliancewill release sometime this Summer and it will likely be joined by additional changes for the game. Neibert and the live stream squad confronted a variety of beasts throughout the four-player dungeon and emphasized the importance of the cooperative nature to the upcomingDungeons and Dragonsgame.

This emphasis on bringing the co-op experience to local play intheDungeons and Dragons: Dark AllianceDLC releasing this summer will allow players more freedom in who they choose to delve into the dark dungeons ofDark Alliancewith. Local cooperative gameplay is limited to fewer games than online co-op, but fans who enjoy exploring new games with a loved one or roommate will have another title to delve into whenDark Alliancereleases next month.

A solid team dynamic will be essential to successfulDark Allianceruns when it releases and split-screen co-op being released with the first DLC will helpDungeons and Dragonsfans stay on the same page with their dungeon crawling partners. Considering split-screen is a major priority for Tuque onceDungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliancereleases, it shouldn’t be long into the Summer before the feature is added.
