A newDynasty Warriorsis on the way for current and next-gen consoles.Dynasty Warriors 9: Empireswas just teased via a short but exciting trailer during Tokyo Game Show 2020.

Quite a lot of intriguing news has come out of this year’sTokyo Game Show (TGS), including a new video ofResident Evil 8. For some, thisDynasty Warriorsnews may be the most surprising and exciting, and the fact that it will be on everything from the PC, Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 to the next generation Xbox Series X and PS5 means that this will be one of the most accessibleDynasty Warriorsgames yet.

The teaser trailer itself doesn’t show off a lot, as it is only about a minute long and shows no actual gameplay. A quick shot of a warrior is shown, and then the camera pans up to show what looks like a dusty battlefield and a beautiful mountain range. The CG trailer than has a giant wall and whole structures coming out of the ground with powerful music playing in the background. Fans won’t have to wait too long to find out more about the game, as it is set to release in early 2021. In the meantime,over 700 songs from theDynasty Warriorssoundtrack is now available on Spotify, so fans can jam out to the fantastic music while waiting.

Recently, it seems as if theDynasty Warriorsspin-offshave received more “pop” than the original games. One Piece, Fire Emblem, andZeldahave all seen Dynasty iterations that have been successful and generally well-received. The formula of gameplay is great for licensed spin-offs, thanks to the over the top gameplay and ability to select a massive cast of characters with varying abilities.

Information about the upcomingHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamitywas also shared at TGS. The game that will take place in the world ofBreath of the Wild, Age of Calamityalready looks like it has the chance to be one of the more intriguingDynastyspin-offs yet.Age of Calamitywill drop in 2021, and so willDynasty Warriors 9: Empires, so it will be interesting to see how the two stack up against each other. And for fans of the series and style as a whole, it will be exciting to play two massiveDynastygames in one year.

There are still plenty of franchises both inNintendo and beyond that could receive theDynasty Warriorstreatment, similarly toZeldaandFire Emblem.But for now, 2021 is shaping up to be a solid year for fans of the games.
