EA Play is in a couple of weeks, but besidesBattlefield 2042, many are unsure what to expect. There’s beenrumors of aDead Spaceremaster, aStar Warsgame being there, and more. However, it seems EA is taking the smart road and outlining expectations ahead of the show.

Recently, for example, BioWare confirmed thenewDragon AgeandMass Effectgames wouldn’t be at EA Play. And now, the same can be said of theStar Warsrumors but to a much higher degree.

EA announced today that it won’t show any newStar Warsgames at EA Play. It went a step further though, actually announcing that the company looks forward to celebrating its vision of theStar Warsuniverse “next year.” In other words, no matter what events take place later this year, fans shouldn’t expect to see any newStar Warsgames. Indeed, the replies to the below tweet are filled with those who are upset, as this creates a small void during what some would consider aStar Warsvideo game renaissance.

The two biggest fan hopes forEA Play would have beenStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2,Battlefront 3,or the rumoredKOTORremake.Any of these would have made a lot of fans happy with the show, but it’s better to know now instead of being disappointed by their no show. The first two games seem like natural releases, althoughJedi: Fallen Orderonly released two years ago andBattlefront 2received a ton of post-launch support, explaining the lack of a sequel announcement this year.KOTORremake seems like a real possibility now, but still, it’s just been a rumor.

Notably, it’s not all lost forStar Warsfans. Barring any new delays,Star Wars: The Lego Skywalker Sagais in developmentand is set for release in 2021. It has already been delayed a couple of times, at least partially due to the coronavirus pandemic, but many are expecting it to release this fall. Notably, developer TT Games did not say this itself, so fans should still be patient and take this with a grain of salt.

In otherStar Warsgames, there’s a ton of untapped potential that will hopefully be unveiled in the coming years. EA’sStar Warscontract is coming to an end in 2023, allowing other developers to make games within the franchise too. Ubisoft has already confirmed aStar Warsgame, whichDisney approved for Ubisoft Massive after seeingAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Either way, while it seemsStar Warsgames may be quiet for a while, there’s certainly a few disturbances in the Force.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2is rumored to be in development.
