InElden Ring, there are tons of different animals for players to interact with, each having their own unique movements, behaviors, and even attacks depending on whether they’re aggressive or not. Ranging from the docile squirrels and skittish rolling sheep to the terrifying and dangerous Rune Bears,Elden Ringis teeming with wildlife for players to discover.
While many players' favorite animal is far and awayElden Ring’s turtle pope, there are other massive animals awaiting the player in the game. For example, there are the aforementioned Rune Bears as well as the smaller yet still dangerous regular bear counterparts. However, one of the most terrifying beasts in the game has to be the menacing Lion Guardians that typically patrol around the game’s castles.

These enemies are very tough, especially early on in the game. They are large and agile, striking at the player with claws, teeth, and massive blades attached to their arms. The lions also deal a ton of damage when they connect; however, there is an upside, as they are part of the quest that leads toElden Ring’s lion claw ash of war. Plus, a player recently discovered that the lions may have a soft and playful side, showing that they may one day be tamed through proper training.
Reddit user DQC discovered that, using a bow and taking advantage of the lions' input-reading abilities, they could “teach” the lions how to jump on command. This resulted in a funny, almost cute clip showing DQC firing arrows while a lion jumped back and forth behind an arch and wall. It is a known fact thatElden Ringenemies react to many attacksand that input reading is certainly the reason, but seeing DQC take advantage of the reading to “train their pet” is a hilarious break from the normally intense gameplay.
Other Reddit users agreed, cracking jokes about the game and its enemies. One user joked that the game is much too easy, saying that DQC is practically controlling the AI. Another user reminisced on the pre-nerf version ofElden Ring’s mimic tear spirit summon, saying that its AI used to also dodge attacks. A magic user commented that it’s even funnier when using spells, as many of the faster ones cause the lions to jump infinitely.
Clearly, enemies in the game have some seriously good reflexes, but in the case of DQC, they seem to have figured out how to have fun with the difficulty. While enemy dodging can be annoying, it is hilarious to see someone “tame” an enemy using it.
Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
