Elden Ringhas been out for over a month, but unlike many games at this stage, there’s a good chance many aren’t finished. The world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki andGeorge R.R. Martinis filled with terrifying bosses, intriguing mysteries, and lingering secrets to be discovered. That has not prevented many from wondering aboutElden RingDLC, though.

There have been rumors and pieces of content discovered that could suggest something comes to the game, while FromSoftware’s previous work doesn’t rule it out or make it concrete either. It’s something manyElden Ringfans want to see though, and one storyline is the perfect basis for a DLC.

Elden Ring Miquella Lore

One of the hardest, secret bosses in the game is no doubt Malenia, Blade of Miquella—her Empyrean Twin. The Empyreans are forever young and, in comparison to other beings likeOmens like Morgott, there is very little discussed about Empyreans in the game. Not only couldElden RingDLCexpand on the Empyrean lore, Miquella’s story is clearly not finished.

He created the Haligtree to become an adult, as well as cure Malenia from herScarlet Rot curse inElden Ring. It seems they oppose The Greater Will in some way, as the Haligtree is essentially a young version of an Erdtree, and Miquella realized The Golden Order could not, or would not, cure Malenia. While he rested and grew the Haligree, he was stolen away by Mohg who shared his blood with Miquella—seeking to make him a new god inElden Ring(it doesn’t work but could seriously change Miquella).

Many believed that Mohg killed Miquella, but that doesn’t seem to be true. Never did Mohg express the desire to Kill Miquella, nor doesbeating Mohg inElden Ringrewardthe player with Miquella’s Great Rune. Sir Gideon Ofner, as well as some cut content inElden Ring, suggest that Miquella is still sleeping and has created, within himself and the Haligtree, a dream world.

How Miquella Could Factor Into Elden Ring DLC

AnyElden RingDLC could not follow the ending of the game—simply put, its endings are far too varied to create any follow-up that would make sense. Pursuing Miquella’s story would fit perfectly anywhere in the story, perhaps requiring players to have beaten Malenia first. His dream world could create a perfect map (if smaller), and add a ton morelore toElden Ring.

Furthermore, it’s apparent that Miquella has some ability to make people love him, perhaps painting him as some angelic being. That could play into Miquella’s version of a world, apart from The Greater Will, and perhaps in it, he is similar to The Greater Will. This story—dreams, a new Greater Will, etc, even as speculation—is incredibly compelling. Anything along these lines, as hinted by the game, would make the lore ofElden Ringeven more complex, but even more interesting too.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
