After months of speculation,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s first DLC episode will be released worldwide next week, and it’s loosely based on thepopular anime series,Dragon Ball Super. From the introduction of Beerus the Destroyer to Super Saiyan God and a brand new card game, there’s a lot for fans to be excited about. And while Bandai Namco is yet to officially reveal everything coming in the first episode, here’s everything that’s been revealed so far aboutDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s Super DLC.
What is Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s DLC?
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s DLC comes in the form of a Season Pass, comprised of two sections, Boss Battle Episodes and a story expansion. The first DLC expansion is called “A New Power Awakens (Part I: Whis' Training) and releases April 28. The second Boss Battle episode will follow, with the story expansion likely following at some point after that.

A New Power Awakens (Part I - Whis' Training)
The first DLC includes a new boss fight against Beerus the Destroyer, as well as training mission with Whis where players can unlock the new Super Saiyan God transformation. Oracle Fish, vendors, side quests, and more will also be present on Beerus' planet. While not officially revealed, theDragon Ball Z: KakarotDLC episodeis rumored to also feature Online Multiplayer via its brand new card game. Other than the card game’s existence, mum’s still the word on it.
Who are Beerus and Whis?
Loosely based on the anime seriesDragon Ball Super, the DLC willintroduce players to Beerus the Destroyer, and his attendant, Whis. InDragon Ballcanon, Beerus is the God of Destruction for Universe 7 (one of twelve universes in theDragon Ballseries), the same universe whereDragon Ball,Dragon Ball Z, andDragon Ball Superall take place.
As the God of Destruction, Beerus' role is to maintain balance in the universe by destroying planets every few decades in order to make way for new planets. Aesthetically, Beerus is a purple anthropomorphic cat, described as powerful, playful, and lazy, while his mentor and attendant, Whis is an Angel, and is described as calm, peaceful, and aloof.
The Super Saiyan God Transformation
By completing training missions with Whis, players will be able to unlock the new Super Saiyan God transformation to use in the boss battle against Beerus. The new content can be accessed at any time and players that unlock Super Saiyan God will be able to use their newly-acquired transformation throughout the main storyline forDragon Ball Z: Kakarot,although to what extent is hard to determine. Screenshots show SSG Goku fighting Raditz and SSG Vegeta fighting Dodoria, so it will be in some way for sure,and it is notable much sooner than Vegeta than revealed in either the anime or manga.

How Much Does the Season Pass Cost?
TheDragon Ball Z: KakarotSeason Passcan be purchased through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Steam. The Season Pass includes both DLC expansions and will cost $24.99 (USD) / £19.99 (GBP) / €18.90 (EURO) / $37.95 (AUD). Owners of theDragon Ball Z: KakarotUltimate Edition will receive all expansions free of cost.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Super DLC Release Date
Thefirst DLC episode will be released worldwide next week, on Tuesday, April 28, while the second is due to release sometime later in the year. Bandai Namco has made no announcement regarding the Season Pass' story expansion.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotretells the life story of Goku throughout the entire DBZ series, and it looks like Bandai Namco is looking to continue that story with the games DLC and potential sequels. In ourDragon Ball Z: Kakarotreview, we said: “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotoffers players an accurate retelling of the story and exhilarating combat, but many of its RPG elements fall to the wayside.” Hopefully, this DLC will play to its strengths and correct the course on some of its weaknesses.
