The trailer opens with a little backstory about the world thatFire Emblem Engagetakes place in. It’s fairly standard, with a sacred land attacked by a Dark (Fel) Dragon, pushed back by heroes. However, these heroes were summoned from other worlds, and seem to be heroes from otherFire Emblemgames. The hero of this particular game is apparently a Divine Dragon in human form, and has hair and eyes that are a vibrant blue and red mix. While certainly distinct, and a good entry in a series known for itsgood character design, it’s also undeniable that the main character has the same color scheme as a Nintendo Switch.

Said main character must embark on a journey to stop the revival of the Fel Dragon while battling foes in trueFire Emblemfashion. The turn based grid combat does not seem much different from the norm, but there is one particularly interesting addition. Some characters have rings that let them summon heroes from otherFire Emblemtitles, and it looks like they assist in combat. This could prove a significant edition toFire Emblem’s already great job system.

There also seems to be a hub area where characters can shop, change clothes, and do other activities. This may be a carry-over similar to the academy fromFire Emblem Three Houses, a goodcarry over feature from a previousFire Emblemtitle. Of course, the academy was not perfect, so this would also be a good time to solidify what worked and remove what didn’t.

As of this article it is unknown how much influence heroes from otherFire Emblemgames will have over the story. They may feature as characters in their own right, playable characters in future DLC, or possibly just be combat features.

Fire Emblem Engageis coming to the Nintendo Switch on Jun 03, 2025.
