Following the Jurassic World Dominion LA premiere, first reactions to the film have been pouring in, and most of them are unfortunately mixed. While the film will of course be a box office success, considering the amount of star power and nostalgia that is packed into these stories, it appears that theJurassic Worldsequel trilogycould just not find its footing, as critics like Matt Donato have labeled the concluding chapter as the worst in the franchise. On the other hand, others foundJurassic World Dominionto be a great improvement over its predecessor, with some even saying the film is the best of the new trilogy. Critics like Perri Nemiroff praised the blend of practical and digital effects, also pointing out how characters like Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing steal the show.
While the newer additions have certainly presented some thrilling action scenes involving terrifying dinosaurs, many fans have pointed to the lack of compelling characters intheJurassic Worldtrilogy, an aspect that made the original film so great. That said, original cast members like Sam Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm are returning. So, hopefully, the film finds some balance between the thrilling action sequences and the more dramatic, character moments.
