The fifth season ofFortnite’s second chapter has officially begun. The map is different, the Marvel crossover has concluded, and theweapon vault has claimed moreFortniteweapons.
One thing that remains constant inFortnite,however, is its challenges. New challenges have been handed out to help players get into the swing of things with the new season and all that it brings. One of these challenges involves interacting with a new element on the map: characters. No fighting is involved, necessarily, just having a simple conversation. Here’s a quick guide on talking to the new Characters inFortnite.

Step 1: Who Are the Characters?
When thinking ofFortnite, stationary NPCs are not usually the first thing that comes to mind. There are no quest givers like in an MMORPG, and most guests take the form of boss characters. However, these new NPCs tie intothe story for Season 5: they are bounty hunters. Specifically, they’re some of the best bounty hunters from multiple realities brought in to fix a problem on the island. This is why the Mandalorian is here. The bounty hunters aren’t exactly on a rampage, so none of them will be immediately hostile.
Step 2: Find and Talk to the Characters
All that’s really required for the challenge is to talk to a character three times. This can be three different characters or the same character three times. It’s as simple as walking up to a character and pressing the prompted talk button. Just make sure not to shoot at the character first, or they will turn hostile and even help other players gun down their attacker.NPCs are locatedscattered all around the map, so they’re not too tough to find. Mancake in particular is located just below the center of the map, in a house.
Step 3: Utilizing the Characters
Finding and talking to the characters is easy enough, but there are reasons to do it besides completing the challenge. Characters can offer bounties on other players, sell weapons, and offer other services. Some of these functionsutilize Gold Bars,Fortnite’s newest in-match currency. Be sure to become familiar with everything that the characters can offer.
So far the characters are all bounty hunters, but more characters might be introduced in the future. Who knows, perhapsthe Seven themselveswill make an appearance. Only time will tell, and who knows if they will be friend or foe to players if or when they finally appear.
