In October 2019, Epic Games capped of Season 10 ofFortniteby sending the island into a black hole. When the game resurfaced a few days later, it had received an entirely new map for players to become accustomed to. Naturally, some players weren’t thrilled with the change and requested that the old map be brought back. It has been 18 months since then and, despite there beingsix new seasonsof content and multiple, radical changes to the map, those demands haven’t ceased. Now, Epic appears to have responded to the demands but has twisted players' wish by adding the map as a new skin.
Yes,Season 6’s maphasn’t reverted to the original like some may have hoped. Instead, the old map has been repurposed into a skin dubbed Eco. The skin was added to the in-game store later today and may also double as a tie-in to Earth Day. To be more precise, the skin itself is a suit of armor, adorned with several references to locations from the first map. For example, Loot Lake serves as the chest piece, the clock face from Tilted Towers is on the right shoulder, with Durr Burger below it on the right arm.

The back bling itself is like a miniature globe version of the map and it also comes with a sword meant to resemble the giant Sword of Singularity used to defeat the Devourer in Season 9. The helmet appears to be a reference to the Visitor, the first member of the mysterious organization known asThe Sevento make an appearance inFortnite. Basically, the whole outfit is literally covered head to toe with references that long-time fans might get a kick out of.
That said, Epic wasn’t the one who designed the skin to begin with. That would be one nollobandz on Twitter, who submitted the design to Epic and has regularly created their own skin concepts for the game. This Eco skin is the second of theirs to actually be added toFortnite, the first one being Dark Rex from Season 2 Chapter 1.
This comes not long after the latest crossover skin, Aloy fromHorizon Zero Dawn. While PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners have access to some exclusive Aloy cosmetics, the base skin is available on every platform. Her inclusion also means there will be a special crossover eventinvolving Aloy and Lara Croft. Said event was delayed due to some issues, but should be ready to go starting from tomorrow on April 23rd.
Fortniteis available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
