Summary
According to a new discovery,Forza Horizon 5has seen an influx of over 40 million players since its launch in November 2021. The open-world racer is one of Xbox’s most successful games ever, and while concrete sales numbers forForza Horizon 5haven’t been disclosed by either developer Playground Games or Microsoft, it’s still proving to be very popular nearly three years later.
TheForza Horizonseries has established itselfas somewhat of a juggernaut among the Xbox first-party stable. Every new entry in the open-world racing franchise has progressively been more successful than the last, and the same holds true forForza Horizon 5. Released for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One in holiday 2021,Forza Horizon 5has periodically reported staggeringly high player counts, to the point where it’s the most-played Xbox first-party console exclusive released this generation so far.

Earlier this year, Xbox announced thatForza Horizon 5had surpassed 37 million playersin its lifetime, and according to a new finding, the racer continues to draw players into its sunny Mexico-inspired setting. Twitter user SnapBlastPlay recently posted an image ofForza Horizon 5’s in-game player counter, which showed that a total of 40 million players have tried out the game since its launch, with over three million of them joining in the past five months. Considering 2024 is year three forForza Horizon 5, the ongoing deluge of players is quite impressive.
Forza Horizon 5 Player Milestone
It’s worth distinguishing that this player count isn’t concurrent, but a cumulative number of people that have booted upForza Horizon 5at any point since its launch. At the time of writing,Forza Horizon 5currently sits at 8,857 concurrent playerson Steam and 19th place among the Xbox Store’s most-played titles. Regardless of its actual concurrent player count, however, the open-world racer’s success as a Game Pass title is irrefutable, and Playground’ssteady cadence of content updates forForza Horizon 5has likely played a major role in keeping existing fans hooked and offering compelling reasons to draw in new players.
With how much of a zeitgeistForza Horizon 5has been for Xbox, it wouldn’t be too surprising if a new entry in theForza Horizonfranchise is actively in development. Fans of the series have long requestedJapan as a setting for a futureForza Horizontitle, but with Playground currently chipping away atFable, it seems unlikely that news of a potentialForza Horizon 6could come anytime soon.
