Raven Software’sCall of Duty: Warzoneis no stranger to bugs and glitches; players have been dealing with issues of varying degree since the game’s release in March 2020. Some of the problems create funny, meme-worthy situations that are good for a laugh, while others have led to much player frustration. Though the developer seems to actively and constantly be working on bug fixes, someCall of Duty: Warzoneglitches are still present even after patches.
Even small additions haven’t always made it into the title without issues. Like many games this time of year, a special bundle with limited-time cosmetics was recently added to the multiplayer shooter in celebration of the Lunar New Year. Unfortunately, Raven Software soon had todisable the Lunar New Year bundle inCall of Duty: Warzonedue to crashes, which were caused by an included blueprint for the Stg 44 fromCall of Duty: Vanguard.

AnotherCall of Duty: Warzonebug has popped up recently, which is impacting players’ ability to use a popular marksman rifle. The Kar98k has been an option for snipers in everyCall of Dutygame set during World War 2, as well as a few other entries in the franchise likeBlack Ops, Modern Warfare, and of courseWarzone. However, the new issue prevents players from sighting through the scope because the lens is opaque or black. This means that gamers wanting to use the Kar98k must resort to hip firing which, despite the weapon’s high damage and easy handling, is not ideal for a marksman rifle. Luckily, the issue seems to fix itself just as arbitrarily as it materializes, with some users reporting that it disappeared after a few minutes and others stating that shooting in the air took care of the problem.
Another recent issue in the battle royale occurs when people attempt to pick up loot from the ground. A Reddit user shared a video of themselves approaching an MP-40 SMG inCall of Duty: Warzonethat reacted like a flashbang grenadewhen the player got too close. A white cloud appeared around the submachine gun and obscured the screen for a few seconds before dissipating. Comments on the Reddit post have revealed that other players have experienced the strange bug as well, on both PC and PS4.
The seemingly never-ending carousel of issues that players encounter inCall of Duty: Warzonemay be due to the frequency with which games in the franchise are launched. With Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, theannual releases ofCall of Dutygames may slow down, giving developers the time to polish their work and fix potential issues before pushing new titles out the door.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
