A gamer has shown off exactly whatRuneScapewould look like if it were a real planet. Thequests inRuneScapeare known for taking players all over the world, and now gamers are able to see it from a never-before-seen perspective.

The world ofRuneScapewill be familiar ground for many gamers over the years. For some, it remains a nostalgic relic, where a love for MMOs was born. But withOld School RuneScape, the game retains an extremely active community to this day, with plenty of players continuing to dedicate a massive amount of time to the game. OneOld School RuneScapeplayer even spent 19,000 hours dedicating their time tomaxing four Ironman accounts, which is a truly absurd achievement. With the game still receiving frequent updates, gamers will be exploring the world of Gielinor for years to come yet.

The image by Redditor _adun places the world ofRuneScapeon a real planet, and the view is incredible. The render even accounts for the various peaks inRuneScape, with the different mountains all visually accounted for from space. Unfortunately, it cuts off before the western area of the game’s map, so somepopularRuneScapeactivitiessuch as Castle Wars are unable to be seen in this particular render. It would be interesting to see the rest of the map from the same point of view in the future.

While everyone appreciated the creativity of the piece, some in the thread joked about the scale of the planet. WhileRuneScape’s map is a huge open-world, it still isn’t the size of a planet. One user even joked “Varrock castle the size of Germany.” Others defended it, stating that it could just be a really small planet. The actual lore reason is unknown - it could just be there’s plenty more of Gielinor that gamers are yet to see, giving Jagex the opportunity to expand on it in the future.

The future ofRuneScapelooks extremely bright, despite the age of the game. BothOld School RuneScapeandRuneScape 3are getting a new skill in 2023, huge updates which will continue to breathe new life into the games. While Jagex hasn’t always pleased the entire player base over the years, the consistency with which the developer has been able to deliver new content to both games is definitely to be admired. In the past, Jagex’s attempts to expand beyondRuneScapehave struggled, and it seems now the developer is happily settled to accept that it will always be “theRuneScapecompany.”

RuneScapeis available now on PC, iOS, and Android devices.
