NewGenshin Impactleaks have revealed that there could be some significant changes to the game’s banner system in the future. Each update in the game features two banner cycles which consist of the Limited Character Banner and the Weapon Banner. The character banners usually include two five-star and three four-star characters.
Genshin Impactkeeps adding one or two new playable characters with each new update that arrives. The ongoing version 3.4 introduced two Dendro users, Alhaitham and Yaoyao, both of whom were placed in the first part of the update. With the game’s pool of limited five-star characters constantly increasing, HoYoverse will probably have to make some adjustments to the banner system in the future.

New posts on the officialGenshin ImpactLeaks subreddit suggest that the updates will probably include three separate banner cycles after version 4.0 arrives. These leaks should still be taken with a grain of salt since the next major update is still six to seven months away. The first big adjustment to the banner system was introduced back in update 2.3 which introduced the first double-banner to the game. This special mechanic allows players to pull for two different five-star characters within the same banner cycle. Since then, each new update has had one or two double banners which makes sense considering thatGenshin Impact’s roster includes over 60 characters at the moment.
Many fans in the comment section think that this leak is probably accurate since the game’s constant expansions of the roster have caused some units likeEula and Hu Tao to miss 10 or more consecutive updates. Unlike most gacha games, HoYoverse does not shy away from making significant changes to the way its banner system works. The recent live stream even for version 3.5 has confirmed that the new five-star Pyro character Dehya will become part of the Standard Banner after 3.6 arrives.
While some players don’t approve of this change, most of them agree thatexpanding the Standard Banneris a step in the right direction. Besides directly pulling for them, the Standard Banner characters can also be obtained by losing a 50/50 on the limited banner and many players even claim that they’ve already maxed out some of the constellation levels for these five-star units.
Another leak claims that the Standard Banner will offer nine different characters in the future. It will apparently include anew Hydro character who will be tied to the upcoming Fontaine region. Many fans speculate that the new unit will probably arrive in the first Fontaine update, similar to Sumeru’s Tighnari.
