AGenshin Impactplayer has pointed out an unusual interaction between Paimon and Xiao during the latest Lantern Rite festival. Paimon is probably the most recognizable character in the game alongside the two main characters. She serves as the players' loyal companion that guides them through the world of Teyvat.
Despite being one of the most important NPCs in theGenshin Impact, there is not a lot of information about Paimon at the moment. She also appears on the screen whenever players enter the pause menu. Since the game was released back in 2020, there have been multiple fan-made theories in the community about this unique creature and her true motives.

Genshin Impactversion 3.4has introduced the famous Lantern Rite festival which is one of the game’s greatest annual events. During the festival, players can interact with almost every playable character from the Liyue region which includes the Anemo Yaksha Xiao. A Reddit user named iamheartofight has shared an interesting screenshot that shows that Paimon missing from the screen when the player entered the pause menu after approaching Xiao. Many fans find this interaction unusual as the post reached 2.6k upvotes on the officialGenshin Impactsubreddit. While some fans claim that it could be a simple glitch, others are a bit more suspicious.
One of themost popular theories about Paimonsuggests that she could be the Unknown God that Aether and Lumine fight in the first cutscene of the game. This character, also known as the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles, is expected to be the last boss inGenshin Impact. While the two characters have completely different model sizes, they share a very similar color theme.
Another theory claims thatPaimon could be one of the three Moon Sisters, Canon, Sonnet, and Aria, who are known as some of the oldest beings in all of Teyvat. This was hinted at in the Aranyaka world quest in which an NPC named Arama, who is known for his wisdom, refers to Paimon as a silver being just like the moon and the sky.
The Anemo user Xiao, who might have caused Paimon not to appear on the screen, is also a very mysterious individual who is known asone of the few remaining Yaksha. They are merciless legendary warriors who helped the Geo Archon Morax in the infamous Archon War that occurred 2000 years before the game’s current timeline.
