Over the past week,Grand Theft Auto Onlineplayers have been visited by intelligent life from outer space. UFOs have been sightseeing in San Andreas, hinting that larger events were soon to come. Those events have now arrived inGrand Theft Auto Online, with Halloween just over a week away.Grand Theft Auto Onlineplayers can expect to start seeing spectral vehicles, machete-wielding madmen, and an increasing number of UFOs around San Andreas. But that’s just the start ofGrand Theft Auto Online’s Halloween surprises for this year’s holiday event.
There are two big additions forFreemode inGrand Theft Auto Onlinefor the Halloween season this year. The first is what Rockstar is calling “Phantom Cars.” These are vehicles that will be traveling around San Andreas without drivers. Further, they will apparently stalk NPCs, or even the player, given the right circumstances. Needless to say, these aren’t friendly ghost drivers. The second Freemode addition are Slashers, masked killers said to have superhuman strength stalking the streets of San Andreas. Needless to say,Grand Theft Auto Onlineplayers should feel a little less safe in Freemode through Halloween.

Rockstar is also bringing back its various Halloween game modes for the holiday inGrand Theft Auto Online. The Slasher Adversary Mode, originally released in 2015, is an asymmetrical multiplayer match-type where a single Slasher faces off against up to seven Hunted. Come Out to Play pits two teams, Hunters and Runners, against each other in another asymmetrical match. Runners have to avoid Hunters and survive until reaching an escape zone. The third mode,Condemned, tasks the Condemned player with striking down a rival before their timer ends while the other players strive to survive. It’s like a nasty type of Halloween tag game mode.
Next on the list of Halloween additions forGrand Theft Auto Onlineis anew Arcade gamenamed Camhedz. Camhedz is a version of the Badlands Revenge 2 arcade game, inspired by Rockstar’sManhuntshooter. The two-player arcade shooter will be available for GTA$700,000 and has its own trophy to earn.
Grand Theft Auto Onlinehas a range of other bonuses and rewards available during its Halloween events. There will be 2x GTA$ and RP onAlien Survivals, 2X GTA$ and RP for Business Battles, a free Green Checkered Round Shades and Green Glow Necklace for Event Cargo, a free GTA3 Baseball Bat Tee, free Republican Space Ranger Livery for the Pfister Comet S2, a Twilight Knife t-shirt for defeating a Slasher in Freemode, and more.
Most ofGrand Theft Auto Online’s Halloween event content should last through the holiday itself, before ending on November 1. Players should make the most of the holiday festivities in the meantime. One final note,Grand Theft Auto Onlineplayers should keep their eyes on the skies. Who knows whatUFOs could appear inGTA Onlineleading up to Halloween.
Grand Theft Auto Onlineis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game coming in March 2022.
