After getting to knowthe adorable Dusa, it’s hard forHadesplayers to picture gorgons as innately terrifying — that is, until they encounter the monster in Asphodel. Unlike Dusa, the Megagorgon doesn’t have any kind words for the Prince of Hades, only hisses and petrifying attacks.

Though the Megagorgon may not be as terrifying as the Bone Hydra or the Minotaur, she’s still a challenge, especially the first few times that players encounter her. With her skull-crusing sidekick and the ability to turn Zag to stone, this fight can be tough for a mini-boss. Here’s how to get out of that chamber in one piece.
4Stay Behind Her
As players will undoubtedly noticeafter a couple fights with this monster, Zagreus becomes petrified if he is hit by the stones that the gorgon shoots from her mouth. By constantly remaining at the back of the gorgon’s head,it becomes much harder for Zag to meet this fate.

What’s more, standing behind the Megagorgon provides agreat vantage point to attack this monster repeatedly.Don’t hold back — but be ready to run when she turns around, or when the other player in this battle shows up. Speaking of which…
3Watch For The Skull-Crusher’s Shadow
When focusing on trying to damage the Gorgon, it’s easy to forget about the other half of Zag’s favorite power couple: the Skull-Crusher. These fiends appear throughout Asphodel, but the one that appears during this fight is especially dangerous because the player’s attention is usually elsewhere.
Even in the heat of battle, while trying to constantly dodge the Gorgon’s petrifying stones,keep an eye out for the looming shadow above. Never stand too long beneath it, or Zag risks getting crushed by this unwelcoming gargoyle.
2Buff Melee Attacks (If Possible)
For some fights in the Underworld, it’s best for Zag to keep his distance and try to hit enemies from afar. For this fight, though, players will often find thatgetting up close and personal can deal the most damage.Wail on the Gorgon from behind; dodge the Skull-Crusher and immediately deal some rapid, close-range hits.

Not every weapon inHadeshas melee options; for example, the Heart-Seeking bow is, by nature, a ranged weapon. That’s not to say it’s impossible to defeat the Megagorgon with Coronacht, but if Zag happens to wield Stygius or the Twin Fists, it’s worth keeping this in mind when traversing Asphodel. Daedalus Hammer upgrades or Boons thatadd damage to close-range attacksare useful not just for the Megagorgon, but forAsphodel’s final bossas well.
1Choose Boons That Affect Your Dash
When Zag does get petrfied (which is usually inevitable during this fight), he can get out of it by spamming the Dash button. Additionally, Dashing is often important in this battle to avoid the Skull-Crusher. Given these two factors, it’s safe to assume thatplayers will spend a lot of time dashing around the field. Thus, giving their Dash more punch can be a huge advantage.
It’s true that players won’t necessarily know which runs will land them in the Megagorgon’s chamber. However,Dash boons come in handythroughout Asphodel,not just during this fight. This area is full of lava and highly mobile enemies, and Zag has to stay quick on his feet to avoid damage. In the Megagorgon fight in particular, though, players will be spamming their Dash constantly. It doesn’t hurt to use this Dash to spawn a Blade Rift, or give Dusa’s evil cousin a terrible Hangover.
