343 Industries and Mantic Games have partneredto create a miniature-based tabletopHalogame. The project is currently untitled, but Mantic and 343 shared details regarding this newHaloexperience. As of right now, the only pieces confirmed to be part of the game are miniature Spartans, with the inclusion of other elements, such asvehicles and Covenant races, are left uncertain. Previews for the game will begin in March, and its full release is planned for September.

Mantic seems confident in what they have to show. In a press release, Mantic Games CEO Ronnie Renton went on record, claiming that he is very happy with the game and that he anticipates it being a lot of fun for fans.

“We have a thrilling and competitive game from a passionate team of talented sculptors, artists, and designers who have been building an incredibleHaloexperience.”

Halohas been subject to tabletop treatment before with Halo ActionClix in 2007. In Halo ActionClix,Spartans and UNSC forcesbattle vehicles and aliens, such as Hunters. But it was unfortunately discontinued in 2008, only a year after its initial launch.

Tabletop games and video games are no strangers to one another. A plethora of video games have been made into tabletop versions, and vice versa. A couple of the biggest releases of the last several years,Cyberpunk 2077andBaldur’s Gate 3,are examples of this, asCyberpunkis based off of Mike Pondsmith’s tabletop RPGCyberpunk 2020andBaldur’s Gate 3is based onDungeons & Dragons. These two different types of gaming see quite a bit of overlap, especially whereD&Dis concerned. So, whileHalocame first in the form of a groundbreaking video game in the first-person shooter genre, it is likely that a chunk of that fanbase will also engage in the new tabletop version.
