Instead of taking fans through the already established and familiar world ofHarry Potter,Hogwarts Legacy’s narrative is set to iterate upon the universe in a unique era that WB Games' Avalanche Software can hopefully have some creative license with. However, there will of course be many nods toHarry PotterasHogwarts Legacyis set in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The castle itself will be familiar to fans of the film and novel franchises, as well as the classes offered for its students. Likewise, the iconic houses that students are initially sorted into in their first year are the same inHogwarts Legacy’s 1800s time period. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin will all be available as Hogwarts houses players can choose from inHogwarts Legacy. This is one of fans' most desired features from the game, and one fan has gone as far as to show their excitement with custom console designs.

Redditor u/Geraltze, or Sam De Riv, has made concepts for custom PS5 palette covers that represent each of Hogwarts' four houses with distinct colors and their associated animal mascots. The covers marryHogwarts Legacy’s main insignia with the house’s animal representative, such as Hufflepuff’s badger.Hogwarts Legacy’s house selectionwill effectively determine the colorful robes players will wear and the common room they will inhabit in their leisure, but it is unsure how far this personalization will extend out from these aesthetic features.
Custom PS5 concepts for each Hogwarts house, if made official, would allow players to further represent their Hogwarts house of choice as they play. Interestingly,Hogwarts Legacywill not select players' houses at random or from a suggestive survey quiz beforehand. Players will instead be able to openly choose their house, probably as part ofHogwarts Legacy’s custom character creator. Besides just a unique color palette per house, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin suggest what the student’s primary personality traits are by who is affiliated to which house.
Slytherin is commonly seen as a villainous choice while Hufflepuff is seen as meek, but there are other definitive qualities associated to each house and any student can feel like they belong to any of them. If houses are truly unique inHogwarts Legacy’s gameplay, there may be a chance that players see their house represented on the Quidditch pitch or even at the year’s-end ceremony to see which house will be awarded the House Cup for the most points awarded.
Hogwarts Legacyis currently scheduled to release Holiday 2022 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
