Summary

Honkai: Star Rail’s Penacony arc in Version 2.0 is set to be an exciting experience based on the cinematics showcasing bits and pieces of the story. The game has also teased the many new characters that players will encounter in this update, which includes the villainous group known as theAnnihilation Gang.

Led by Duke Inferno,Honkai: Star Rail’s Annihilation Gang is a group that wants to annihilate the world to earn the gaze of the Aeon of Destruction, Nanook. As devotees of the Aeon, they are considered outcasts because their thirst for destruction is “not pure enough” to earn Nanook’s favor. Either way, all four members under Duke Inferno have shown just how dangerous they can be, and they even resemble another prominent group from theResident Evilfranchise.

Honkai Star Rail Fans Predict Annihilation Gang’s Star Level Based on Interesting Design Detail

The Annihilation Gang Has Serious Four Lords Vibes

Apart from Duke Inferno, the Annihilation Gang consists of four deadly members: Akash, Dubra, Caterina, and Constance. ManyHonkai: Star Railfans have pointed out that the gang has the same vibe asResident Evil Village’s Four Lords, especially since they have the same number of members and both groups are described as cult-like.

The Four Lords is a dominant group that presides over the Eastern European village in the eighthResident Evilgame. The heads of each house gained superhuman abilities after being infected with the Mold brought back byMother Miranda. The Four Lords is composed of Alcina Dimitrescu, Salvatore Moreau, Donna Beneviento, and Karl Heisenberg.

What madeResident Evil Villagesuch a compelling game is the fact that players can face each lord and overcome their horrifying challenges, before ultimately facing Miranda at the end. The format was simple, as the players didn’t have to leave the village to helpEthan Wintersaccomplish missions, yet an effective way to get the story across. That being said,Honkai: Star Railhas a great opportunity to follow the same gameplay format for the Annihilation Gang in the future.

Each Honkai Annihilation Gang Member Deserves a Boss Battle Like RE7’s Four Lords

Honkai Star Railhasn’t confirmed if the Annihilation Gang members will be playable, but many believe they will be released in future updates. What’s likely, though, is that they will be powerful boss enemies in future updates, so it would be interesting if players could face them in their own houses or rooms in the Ever-Flame Mansion. Just like inResident Evil Village, the Annihilation Gang members could have powerful abilities and challenges, like silencing attacks, for example, to let players have unique experiences during each battle. The difficulty for each Annihilation Gang member could also be raised, especially sinceHonkai: Star Railfans believe that Constance would probably be the strongestamong them because she’s Duke Inferno’s “pride and joy.” This will also allow players to explore their individual stories, even if they’re just NPCs.

Of course, the mechanics of each challenge shouldn’t be too close toResident Evil Village’s format, despite some characters looking similar - some fans have pointed out that Constance has the same outfit as Lady Dimitrescu, while Dubra also controls a child-like puppet like Beneviento. It might not be possible to have Beneviento’s “hide and seek” mini-game inHonkai: Star Rail’s main story, but it is possible that some of these boss enemies might transform into powerful monsters, like Lady Dimitrescu and Moreau. Besides, this wouldn’t be the first time aHonkai: Star Railboss will transform, as Cocolia andPhantylia have multiple formsduring battles.

It might take some time before the Annihilation Gang officially makes its debut in the game, butHonkai: Star Railfans are already looking forward to them. With the game kicking off 2024 with a massive update in February and its first anniversary coming up, HoYoverse might have big plans in store. This may or may not include an extended Penacony map to fit the Annihilation Gang’s individual lairs.
