Remothered: Broken Porcelain,the second installment in developer Stormind Games' chillingRemotheredseries, is gearing up for its October release with some disturbing new footage. The video raises more questions than it answers, however.
The firstRemotheredtitle,Tormented Fathers, was released in 2018 without much fanfare or mainstream attention, but garnered a number of awards and affection from horror fans as a cult title. The series is also widely regarded as the spiritual successor to Japan’sClocktowersurvival horror franchise. Fans of that series, as well asSilent Hill, andCondemned, will want to keep an eye out forBroken Porcelain.The Italian developed and published title isone of 2020’s most anticipated horror releases.

The trailer opens with a young girl, Jennifer, being escorted into an office and later listening tothe same mirror shown in theBrokenPorcelainreveal trailer, as a door closes behind her, unbidden. Spooky footage of the environment continues to play, and another girl insists that the Ashmann Inn is a destination reserved for problem children. The foreboding music steadily escalates and the final moments of the trailer kick into high gear, offering glimpses of some of the game’s monsters, violence, and horrific effects.
The first thing that is clear from the trailer isBroken Porcelain’s impressive graphical leap over its predecessor, but the true nature of the plot, and the threat at its core, remain ciphers. Those who viewed the second, comparatively tongue-in-cheekBroken Porcelaintrailer, know the Ashmann Inn looks like a hunting lodge crossed with The Overlook Hotel from Stephen King’sThe Shining.It is likely that isolation and a limited cast of characters to trust will also feature prominently in the game’s plot.
Remothered: Broken Porcelainis the second in Stormind’s planned horror trilogy, though the developer has stated that each game can be enjoyed without knowledge of the prior installments. Gamers will have to wait longer than expected to get their hands on it.Broken Porcelain’s release was recently pushed to October,though the delay is amusingly quite fitting. The late October release will see the title on the market just in time for Halloween.
Jennifer’s adventures at the Ashmann Inn will have some stiff competition, however. Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games recently revealed they will bereleasing the survivor horror title,Little Hope, on October 30, after it also suffered a development delay.Little Hopeis the follow-up toMan of Medanand the second installment in its own anthology:The Dark Pictures. Regardless of which title comes out on top, this autumn will be an excellent time to be a horror fan.
