Aesthetically, the inn is one of the game’s most beautiful and intricate maps, but with its webbed hallways and egg-stealing spiders, it’s one of the most challenging maps in the game. All is not lost, however. Though the inn’s ritual is difficult, players can make the necessary sacrifices, survive the lurking spiders, and save Zara once and for all. Here is how the inn can be completed.

A Room At The Inn

To complete the map’s ritual and save Zara, players will need to be able to juggle three resources: spider eggs, pools of water, and bleach canisters. Pools of water are located in the map’s outer areas, bleach canisters are located within the inn, and spider eggs are scattered throughout the map.

As with every map inDevour,a sacrificial item is needed in order to progress and win:spider eggs are the inn’s sacrificial item.Zara, the map’s boss, vomits spider eggs up in random areas once she has begun hunting. Before they can be sacrificed at the shrines that share their symbol, eggs must be cleansed in the pools of water.

Unfortunately, cleansing an egg contaminates the pool of water that was used, turning the water green. At this point, the player must use a bleach canister to purify the pool. To claim victory in the inn the players will need to sacrifice ten eggs, so at least that many bleach containers will be needed.

Devour - The Inn Shrine

Making matters worse, the spider demons that roam the map are more troublesome thanthe game’s typical mobs.If they kill a player, the demons will collect any eggs the player was carrying. The spiders will then need to be killed so that the stolen eggs can be retrieved and progress can continue, as additional eggs will not spawn.

The Ritual

At the beginning of the match it’s wise to begin finding and collecting resources, putting them somewhere they will be easily accessible when the time comes. Neither Zara nor her spider minions will attack the players yet, and the keys for the map’s many locked doors won’t spawn inuntil the players encounter Zaraand the hunt begins. Taking some time early on toplace bleach containers beside the pools of watermakes the cleansing process much faster later in the level.

Devour - The Inn Zara

Once the players have looked around and completed their early-game preparations, it’s time tohead to the cavern at the back of the map.At the end of the cave stands Zara. She will spit out an egg, and the ritual process will begin. Players must now search the map for the first five eggs, simultaneously searching for keys to unlock different rooms within the inn.

Like the villains inthe best psychological horror games,Zara is a constant threat, as she can travel through small holes throughout the map, catching players off guard and destroying hiding spots. If she sees a player in hiding, the boss can also open the hiding spot and attack.

Saving Zara

The process of finding an egg, cleansing it, and burning it at the matching shrine must be repeated five times before the boss will vomit the final five sacrificial eggs into the level. Like other bosses inDevour,Zara will grow more aggressive the further that players get into the ritual process.

Zara will begin to move faster, attack more frequently, and be more perceptive of players attempting to hide. Advancing the ritual process will also increase the number of demons on the map. By repeating the ritual process ten times, the players will exorcise the demon from Zara’s body, thereby completing the inn.
