Confirmed via a recent trailer onUbisoft’s YouTube channel, it has been revealed thatHyper Scapewill officially be making its way to consoles on August 11. The new battle royale game will mark Ubisoft’s first venture into the popular multiplayer genre and this new promotional video makes it pretty clear that the publisher is not holding anything back.
Like many popular battle royales, the trailer confirms thatHyper Scapewill be structured into seasons, with August 11 seeing the premiere of season 1. Although it’s not entirely clear yet what will change over the seasons, the ad promises a new weapon in the Dragonfly, a fresh hack in Magnet, and limited-time modes, as well as an 100 tier battle pass. Alongside these major announcements, the trailer also highlights more ofHyper Scape’sslick, battle royale gameplay and neon, futuristic world. Beginning by focusing more onthe battle royale’s overarching story- in which a series of players enter a digital world with the goal of becoming a champion - it then segues into some intense gameplay that shows how diverse the title’s firefights can be. It also gives console players their first look at some of the game’s most useful hacks: powerful abilities that can be utilized to get the upper hand on opponents. One sequence shows a player placing a large wall in front of their foe to snag a nearby gun, while later in the trailer a player uses shockwave to repel an enemy.
Alongside that, the trailer highlightshow verticalHyper Space’sgameplay is, with the player jumping off large buildings while firing at enemies and scaling rooftops mid-firefight. Overall, it offers more and more reasons to give the game a go when it drops early next month, especially with the battle royale being free to play. However, if players want to buy into Ubisoft’s newest multiplayer venture, they can do so, with the season 1 battle pass having a premium version available for 950 bitcrowns (Hyper Scape’sin-game currency).
All in all, it seems Ubisoft is doing a fantastic job of getting its battle royale out and with as much early content as possible. Considering the game is launching in the same ecosystem asFortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, andApex Legends,it’s sure to have stiff competition, so offering as many reasons to playHyper Scapeas possible feels like a wise move on the publisher’s part.
HyperscapeSeason 1will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on August 11.
